  15.         IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
  16.         You MUST run UPDATE from the game directory and not from the patch
  17.         disc as this will erase the update file from the disc and also from
  18.         the game directory.

  20.         Your patch disc currently contains 3 files.  If your disc contains
  21.         only 2, after attempting the update, then this is the mistake you 
  22.         have made.

  26.         BUG FIXES AND NEW FEATURES WITHIN v1.3

  29.         * Please start a new game of UFO to eliminate all possibilities 
  30.         that the new version of the game fixes the bugs which you have 
  31.         seen so far.  Your currently saved old games may not work properly 
  32.         on the new version - sorry!
  33.  
  34.         * The SETUP program does not require that you set the IRQ settings
  35.         for the sound card, only the Memory address and the DMA channel.
  36.         The normal Soundblaster defaults for this is, Address A220 and DMA 1.
  37.         If you find the game crashes before you have a chance to play then
  38.         this is likely the reason.
  39.  
  40.         * This update contains a new version of the DOS Extender, DOS4GW to
  41.         fix some compatibility problems seen with the earlier release.
  42.         DOS4GW is not a MicroProse program and we were not aware of these
  43.         compatibility problems until after UFO was published.  If you had a
  44.         problem running UFO, this update will fix that as we have managed to
  45.         obtain a later release of this program.
  46.  
  47.         * Corrupt tiles that caused multiple images to appear have been fixed.
  48.  
  49.         * Action points have been limited to 80 to prevent the "wrap-around"
  50.         problem seen with the original release when points reached over 250
  51.         end then went to zero.
  52.  
  53.         * Mission variety has been improved to allow access to all types of
  54.         missions when playing.
  55.  
  56.         * Alien intelligence has been improved to allow a tougher game.
  57.         Aliens are now more aggresive and carry more powerful weaponary in
  58.         their spaceships.  They will also no longer stand around and wait for
  59.         you to come to them, so watch your backs!
  60.  
  61.         * The UFO encyclopedia has been expanded to include missing entries.
  62.         If you research a new item and no information is displayed after the
  63.         research period is up then this is because nothing new has been learnt.
  64.         This is not a bug.
  65.  
  66.         * The corrupt game file, UBASE_07.MAP which caused problems when
  67.         entering the Alien Bases has been replaced.
  68.         This previously caused the error, "CAN'T FIX Y-AXIS" to appear when
  69.         entering these bases.

  71.         * There is no PC Speaker support within UFO as specified in the
  72.         Technical Supplement.
  73.  
  74.         * Some customers reported the MS-DOS error, 
  75.         "Note enough Environment Space" when attepting to run the program, if
  76.         more than four SET commands had been made from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
