  1. Total Mayhem Version 1.0.1 Patch
  2.  
  3. NOTE: If you are experiencing NO problems playing Total Mayhem, then this patch will 
  4. only fix a few very minor bugs. You do not need this patch if you are currently playing 
  5. Total Mayhem without problems.
  6.  
  7. Please note that this patch will only be effective if you have installed Total Mayhem to your 
  8. hard drive. If you wish to retrieve some of your hard drive space, you may wish to delete 
  9. the Video files. These are the files ending with .RPL extension in the directory where you 
  10. installed the game. If you do need to do this, then you will no longer be able to see the 
  11. Video clips. We are planning to release a further patch within a week which will allow the 
  12. game to be installed to the Hard Drive yet play the videos from the CD. This will be a very 
  13. small file and will not affect any saved games or games in progress.

  15. If you do need the patch due to video card problems we suggest you download and use this 
  16. patch and, if you want to run the
  17. Videos from the CD, download the further patch later.

  27. Once you have downloaded the patch

  29. 1.Unzip the files into the directory where you installed your game 
  30. 2.Run the WCONFIG program 
  31. 3.Select Auto Detect Option 
  32. 4.If you still have Video Display problems, see below in the Command Line Options 
  33. section.

  35. What is fixed in version 1.0.1
  36.  
  37. 1.The Scitech driver tends to autodetect video cards better. 
  38. 2.Adds several command line switches to ensure Video Card/Monitor compatibility:
  39.      NOHSCROLL (This disables any attempt to use Hardware Scrolling) 
  40.     USE640X480 (This forces Total Mayhem to use the more common 640x480 video mode,
  41.                  we suggest you try this option first) 
  42.  
  43.   These switches are automatically used by the game when it can detect that they are needed, 
  44.   but you may add them to the
  45.   command line yourself if the game doesn't recognize that they are needed. 
  46.  
  47.   To add these switches:
  48.  
  49.   In Windows 3.1x, you need to go to RUN on the File menu, and Browse to find the 
  50.   MAYHEM.EXE that you use. Select it, and then physically type at the end of the line the 
  51.   switch that you want to use.

  53.   In Windows 95, right click and drag the Mayhem icon onto your desktop and select "create 
  54.   Shortcut here". Next right
  55.   click on the shortcut and then select the properties tab. Add the switch to the 
  56.   MAYHEM.EXE line. (Outside the quotes if
  57.   there are any). Click on Apply and then OK. 
  58.  
  59. 3.Does not enable players in a Multi-player game to use weapons that they are not carrying. 
  60. (If this doesn't make sense to you,
  61. don't worry about it). 
  62. 4.The objectives for level 10 are in the proper order now, and are clearer. 
  63. 5.The credits for Creat Studio are now inserted correctly.

  65. Known Problems:
  66.  
  67. On some video cards, such as the Diamond Edge 3D, the game begins with a black screen 
  68. and appears to crash. Just hit the spacebar on this black screen, and the game will play fine. 
  69. This should be fixed by the next patch.

  71. Some video cards do not play the movies. This is being looked into as to exactly what the 
  72. problem is. Hopefully this can be
  73. fixed by the next patch.

  75. The Flags in multi-player Capture Flag have too few of Hit Points. This is being addressed 
  76. in a future patch. 
  77.  
  78. Eight Player support should be included in the next patch, along with a few new 
  79. multiplayer maps.

  81. If you find that you are experiencing irregularities in the Multi- Player games, make sure 
  82. that everyone is playing off the
  83. same version of Total Mayhem. The date of the version 1.0.1 .EXE is 5/22/96.
