  6. Tank Commander Patch V1.1

  9. This patch replaces V1.0. Users of faster PC's, Pentiums in particular, have
  10. found a problem with serial/modem data loss, with the effect of the game
  11. reporting that the two players are trying to play on different levels. This
  12. patch remedies the problem, and also improves the frame rate of serial/modem
  13. games.
  14.  
  15. In addition there was a slight problem with the Sat Screen on the original
  16. CD. It seems that it was possible to inadvertantly click on DESPATCH without
  17. having set a waypoint. This had the appearance of locking the machine, but
  18. pressing the SPACE BAR regained control.

  24. 1- Program now allows SHARE.EXE to be running on system
  25.  
  26. 2- Program now allows for better problem feedback upon installation

  32. TO INSTALL:

  34. - Copy the TC1_2.ZIP file into your Tank Commander game directory
  35.  
  36. - USE PKUNZIP AS INSTRUCTED BELOW
  37.  
  38. - TYPE <PKUNZIP -e -o TC1_2.ZIP while in the TC game directory>
  39.  
  40. - The Patch will overwrite the old game executibles
  41.

  44. Procedure for new install routine:
  45.  
  46. New INSTALL.BAT, batch file solution for people having problems with the
  47. install program not doing a full install.
  48.  
  49. In the directory of Tank Commander on your hard drive after you have
  50. copied and unzipped the patch type:
  51.  
  52.    install.bat <cd-rom drive letter>:
  53.  
  54. Make sure you include the .bat after install. For example you would type:
  55.  
  56.    install.bat d: if d is the letter of your cd-rom drive.
  57.  
  58. Follow the onscreen prompts.  After the game is done installing type tc
  59. to start the game.

  64. GAME HINTS & TIPS:
  65.  
  66. 1.  At mission start, hit the F8 key to bring up the Satellite Map.  In this
  67. Map, use both the Helicopter Recon and the closeup view to chart a safe course
  68. to your objectives.
  69.  
  70. 2.  Helicopters are you deadliest enemies.  TAKE THEM OUT FIRST.  To do this, 
  71. manuever within sight of the Helicopter, elevate the Main Gun to the MAXIMUN
  72. and then select the ARMOR PIERCING shell and fire.
  73.  
  74. 3.  For unseen targets, use the Guided Missile (if you have them).
  75.  
  76. 4.  Use AirStrikes conservatively, use to take out buildings or Tank groups.
  77.  
  78. 5.  Flamethrowers are great for clearing terrain and taking out jeeps/trucks.
  79.  
  80. 6.  DO NOT run over or kill RED CROSS units/equipment or kill excessive sheep.
  81. This could result in game termination.
  82.  
  83. 7.  PowerUps are rare, and look like red chests.
