- Version 4.31 Update 1/3/95
- ==========================
-
- The new 4.31 version has only minor differences to the previous 4.3.
- The enhancements are purely internal and include :-
- 1. Internal ROM page switching has been modified to detect
- page signatures rather than guessing when pages switch.
- This should future proof the AR for faster machines and
- some Pentiums and generally make the ARPC more reliable
- on machines with fast AT bus speeds.
- Anyone who has had to slow down their AT CLOCK BUS speed
- in their BIOS can now put it back to its faster speed
- ( e.g. "CPUCLK/2 or /3" ) but note that other cards may need
- a slower speed (video cards for one) so if you have problems
- after speeding your bus up - slow it down again.
- 2. The board will now tell you if it can't find its ROM base
- or IO port and exit, previously it just hung the machine due to
- a glitch in the bootup code! Anyway, installation of the card
- should now be much easier.
- 3. AREPLAY.COM now has a /C switch which causes it to clear
- the processors internal cache when initialising. This was
- a default in version 4.3 which caused the AREPLAY.COM
- to lock-up when initialising the VRAM (with EMM386 installed).
-
- That's all for now. Version 5 with a new easy to use trainer should be out
- early May (but no promises). Simon P Constable has left Datel (hello if
- your reading this Simon), which is why version 5 has been delayed. The
- reason for this update is because I'm getting fed up with all the people
- phoning in with the problems now solved by modifications 1&3 above.
-
-
-
-
- Version 4.4 Update 6/3/95 - WOW! five days later!
- ================================================
-
- This version sees some major changes and improvements including an improved
- trainer and an important bug fix.
-
- 1. Apologies: Those of you who were having trouble with some
- conventional mode cheats not working when you upgraded to Version
- 4.0/4.1/4.2/4.3 will be pleased to know I have found a bug that
- Simon managed to implement when altering the trainer for protected
- mode. Anyway, what was happening was that every second ACTIVE
- parameter (every even number active parameter in the list) was not
- being used correctly. I apologise to everyone for any inconvenience.
-
- 2. I have modified the difference trainer (in the main trainer menu).
- The manual has not yet been updated to this but its quite a simple
- change. Now the increase and decrease buttons do not request you
- to specify the value of the increase/decrease, instead they assume
- to look for values which have increased/decreased by any value.
- This improves the trainer no end. The use of this trainer can now
- be to find cheats for energy bars or values which cannot be found
- by either countable value or percentage (if they don't work).
-
- Where this new trainer cones in useful :-
- The other trainers may not work due to altered internal values,
- for example you may use the "countable value" trainer to find a
- games displayed value of say 25 - but this could be stored
- internally as 50 and divided by 2 before being displayed. In this
- instance searching for 25 would fail to find a cheat value.
- However, using the difference trainer and simply stating if the
- value has increased or decreased will enable you to find the value
- if only a little slower.
-
- In the use of the difference trainer you should aim to detect
- small changes in values as the trainer works on bytes and a lot of
- cheats will be using words (two bytes). So to find for example
- an energy bar - Use the "equal to" button to fill the trainer when
- you have full energy. Lose a small amount of energy and use the
- "smaller" button to reduce the possibilities, then get full energy
- again (start the game again if necessary) and use the "equal to"
- again. Repeat until you get the reduce possibilities down to a
- decent number. This method also applies to integer numbers like
- number of bullets, etc.
-
- A warning though is that the difference trainer is slow like the
- "percentage" and "change of status" trainers and so is best used
- over small memory areas (using the "range set" option in the
- trainer - see your manual). Set the range around the area of other
- cheats you have found.
-
- 3. An improvement: In previous versions, if you had a lot of
- parameters in the AR, exiting programs would cause the AR to
- check each parameter and this could take about 3 seconds with long
- parameter lists. This becomes quite annoying as this delay happens
- whenever you exit a program. But now I've fixed this so the
- parameters are only checked once.
-
- 4. Another improvement: The AR no longer defaults to creating its
- temporary files POSSIBILITY and ARVRAM.RAM in your root directory
- of "C:" (I thought this was untidy and so did my mate Rich!). Now
- the files will be created in the "C:\AREPLAY" directory if it exists
- otherwise they will be placed in the "C:\" root directory.

- Version 4.5 Update 1/5/95
- =========================
- Anyone who managed to get hold of this version should upgrade to version 4.6.
- Most machines still had a problem with the freezer which this version was
- meant to solve.
-
-
-
- Version 4.6 Update 9/5/95
- =========================
- Freezer bug fix and trainer search speed increase.
-
- 1. The freeze bug found in versions 4.2 through 4.4 has been fixed.
- Anyone who was having trouble freezing games to disk and
- reloading them should find this update solves their problems.
- Remember to boot up without cache software and with the same
- memory resident programs as when you froze the program.

- That's all :-

-
- P.S. If you have made any new cheats why not upload them to me on the
- bulletin board (if you have a modem). All the latest cheats will be made
- available on the Datel BBS.
