  1. Download Proto1.zip into the directory containing the PROTOSTAR game (C:\PROTO
  2. if you kept the default directory upon install).

  4. Unzip the file using PKUNZIP. It will ask if you wish to replace the files
  5. PROTO.EXE and FILES.RLB, answer in the afirmative (Yes).

  7. Type PROTO to play.

  9. If your machine freezes after typing PROTO, reboot your computer, change to
  10. your game directory (PROTO, if you chose the default directory) and type
  11. EDIT TSAGE.CFG.  At the bottom of the file, add the line; SOUND_DETECT = OFF
  12. (this should all be typed in caps).     Then type ALT F, S to save and ALT X to
  13. exit.  Typing PROTO should begin game play.
