  5. Power Dolls requires EMS. Be sure to enable EMS memory. If you allowed
  6. our installation program to modify your CONFIG.SYS file, be sure to
  7. reboot your computer to allow these changes to take effect.

  9. After you reboot your computer, type "CD\GAMES\PD" then type "PD" to play!

  25. 1.1     Hardware Requirements
  26.  
  27.     POWER DOLLS is a DOS CD-ROM game. IT IS NOT A WINDOWS GAME! It is
  28.     programmed to work best under MS-DOS 5.0 or higher, however you
  29.     can run POWER DOLLS under Windows 95. See Section 1.6.
  30.  
  31.     If you are a Windows 3.1 user, do not try to run Power Dolls from
  32.     the Program Manager or Window's DOS prompt. Exit Windows completely.
  33.  
  34.     You need the following in order to play POWER DOLLS.
  35.  
  36.     Minimum:        Intel 386DX CPU with 4MB RAM
  37.             Double-speed CD-ROM
  38.             VGA video card 
  39.             MS-compatible mouse 
  40.             5 MB free disk space (without voices)
  41.             MS-DOS 5.0, EMS memory enabled
  42.  
  43.     Recommended:    Intel 486 CPU with 4MB RAM
  44.             Double-speed CD-ROM
  45.             VGA video card 
  46.             MS-compatible mouse 
  47.             SoundBlaster(tm) compatible sound card 
  48.             23 MB free disk space (with voices)

  52. 1.2     Installation
  53.  
  54.     Windows Users Note!  You can install POWER DOLLS by selecting
  55.     FILE RUN from the Program Manager menu then typing D:SETUP.EXE
  56.     (where D is your CD-ROM drive letter) but don't try to run the
  57.     game under Windows (Exception: Win95 users, see section 1.6)
  58.  
  59.     The installation program will not create program groups or icons.
  60.  
  61.     POWER DOLLS requires 500 KB free conventional memory with
  62.     EMS enabled. Type "PD M" instead of "PD" to play if you
  63.     don't have enough free conventional memory but performance
  64.     may be erratic.
  65.  
  66.     Sound Setup. Use the default sound card settings when possible.
  67.     These settings will work with most sound cards.
  68.  
  69.     Check your card's settings by typing "SET" at the DOS prompt.
  70.     A value string like the one below will appear.
  71.  
  72.             BLASTER=A220 D1 I5 T4
  73.  
  74.     Note the A(ddress), D(MA) and I(RQ) values. Then type "INSTALL"
  75.     from your Power Dolls directory on your hard disk to configure
  76.     the game with the same settings as your sound card.

  81.     VOLUME CONTROL

  83.     Raise and lower the BGM (background music) volume by pressing
  84.     the UP(key 8) or DOWN(key 2) arrow keys on your keyboard/keypad.

  86.     Turn the BGM ON/OFF by pressing the SHIFT+CTRL keys at the same time.
  87.     
  88.     Turn the Voices (if installed) ON/OFF by pressing the V key one time.
  89.     
  90.     Turn the SFX (sound effects) ON/OFF by pressing the X key one time.

  93.     BYPASS INTRODUCTION/QUICK EXIT
  94.  
  95.     Exit the game at any time by pressing the SHIFT+ESC keys together.
  96.     WARNING! This will erase your current game.
  97.     BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR GAME before using this hot-key sequence!

  99.     You can also skip the game introduction by right-clicking the mouse.

  102. 1.4     Compatibility Issues
  103.  
  104.     1. CD-ROM. Game will hang if you remove the CD-ROM from the drive.
  105.  
  106.     2. SOUND. The manual incorrectly states the soundtrack is MIDI and
  107.           Roland(tm) compatible. The soundtrack can only playback
  108.           on SoundBlaster(tm)-compatible cards.
  109.  
  110.           NOTE: Win95 users can enjoy the MIDI tracks on the CD-ROM
  111.             by using their standard Media Player.
  112.  
  113.     3. Video. We designed and tested the game to work with standard
  114.           VGA cards. If you encounter video problems, try playing
  115.           the game with a different video card to see if that
  116.           particular card is the source of your video problem.

  137. 1.6     Windows 95 Users
  138.  
  139.     If you're an intermediate/advanced Win95 user, the instructions
  140.     below should be enough to guide you through the installation.
  141.  
  142.     WE DO NOT PROVIDE FREE TECHNICAL SUPPORT for Win95 problems.
  143.  
  144.     The following advice is provided "as is" and Megatech is in no way
  145.     responsible if you muck up your Win95 setup.

  147.     Win95 Installation
  148.  
  149.         Place the POWER DOLLS CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  150.         Click on START in your taskbar then select RUN.
  151.  
  152.         Type D:SETUP.EXE (where D is your CD-ROM drive).
  153.         Leave the default settings (most PC sound cards are
  154.         configured to Address 220, DMA 1 and IRQ 5).
  155.  
  156.         Press F1 to install to your hard disk.
  157.  
  158.     Win95 Desktop Shortcut
  159.  
  160.         After installing the game, create a Shortcut.
  161.  
  162.         Right-click on any empty area on your desktop then left-click
  163.         NEW SHORTCUT.
  164.  
  165.         Type the (default) command "C:\GAMES\PD\PD.BAT" or select
  166.         BROWSE and find PD.BAT on your hard disk.
  167.  
  168.         Name the shortcut "POWER DOLLS" or anything you like.
  169.  
  170.         Next select an icon and click FINISH.
  171.  
  172.         Your new Shortcut will appear on your desktop!
  173.         Right-click on the shortcut then left-click on PROPERTIES.
  174.  
  175.         At the Properties Window, left-click the PROGRAM Tab then
  176.         left-click the ADVANCED button.

  178.         Remove the check marks in the boxes to the left of:
  179.            "Prevent MS-DOS based Programs from detecting Windows"
  180.            "Suggest MS-DOS mode as necessary"

  182.         Click OK. You're done!

  184.         PS. Check out the icon we created for your Shortcut.
  185.             At the Properties Window, click CHANGE ICON then
  186.             click BROWSE and open the file PD2.ICO in your
  187.             PD directory.

  190.     FINAL NOTE: A shortcut only instructs Win95 on what environment
  191.             to launch a program under, so be sure your sound
  192.             card and cd-rom drive are configured correctly!

  197.     Thank you for buying Power Dolls. We think you'll enjoy the game

  201.     has a sexy upgrade. Sorry to disappoint you. There is no upgrade.
