  3.                           HOW  TO UPDATE YOUR FILES:
  4.                           -------------------------
  5.  1) Insert the update disk into appropriate floppy drive. Type the drive 
  6.     letter containing the update disk, followed by a colon and {Enter}.  
  7.     Example  A: {Enter} 
  8.  
  9.  2) Type: COPY  *.*  C:\MC3  (If using a directory other than C:\MC3 then type 
  10.     that directory in) 
  11.  
  12.  3) Type the MC3 hard drive letter followed by a colon and press {Enter}.  
  13.     Example  C: {Enter} 
  14.  
  15.  4) Your game has been updated !
  16.  
  17. * NOTE: For Magic Candle Game Hints and Help, type HELP, which will display 
  18.         most commonly asked technical and game hint questions.

  22.                        PROBLEMS  FIXED IN THIS VERSION:
  23.  
  24.  - The Charter/Scepter exchange was damaged by version 1.15 update, it is 
  25.    fixed in version 1.16.  Also fixed is the related problems with Garz 
  26.    having zero coins when invited into party, Garz having trouble  recognizing 
  27.    the hero or joining party if he was dismissed before charter/scepter 
  28.    exchange. 
  29.  
  30.  - Mirror of Honesty and candle Wick were assigned to same treasure 
  31.    chest.  This is fixed so that digging up both items in version 1.16 works 
  32.    correctly, if you have a save in version 1.10 with wick then the necesary 
  33.    DEBUG commands are given below to "repair" that save. 
  34.  
  35.  - Characters transfered from Magic Candle II were not getting benefits 
  36.    when awakening gods.  
  37.  
  38.  - NPC text for clues being displayed improperly, or wrong messages appearing. 
  39.  
  40.  - Characters on assignment not showing correct amount of gold earned.

  42.                                 ALSO INCLUDED:

  44. - Updated sound drivers to fix problems with Creative Labs' drivers not  
  45.   working with newer Creative Labs' Sound Blaster cards.

  47. - ICD.EXE and ICE.EXE to disable and reenable the internal cache on 486 
  48.   machines that may have conflicts with sound drivers due to machine cache 
  49.   speed.

  51.            COMMANDS TO "FIX" 1.10 SAVE GAMES WITH WICK BUT NO MIRROR  
  52.  
  53.       CAUTION:  Always make backups of saved games before using DEBUG !!

  55.  1)  Type: DEBUG  DBSAVx.MCS  {Enter}  (where x is save game letter A-H)

  57.  2)  Type: e2312  {Enter}

  59.      This will show a number just before the cursor, subtract 2 from number, 
  60.      type it in & press Enter.

  62.      Example: 0E15:2312  17.  [You would type in 15  and press Enter]

  69.      - Special Note for 486/50 Mhz machines and Sound Blaster soundcards -
  70.  
  71.     Problems may occur with Sound Blaster soundcards when attempting 
  72.     to play music on a 486 machine running at 50 Mhz speed.  Included are 
  73.     2 files: ICD.EXE and ICE.EXE - the former to disable the internal cache on 
  74.     the 486 and the latter to reenable the cache. 
  75.  
  76. Usage:   icd - disables the internal cache 
  77.          ice - enables the internal cache
  78.  
  79. ** WARNING:  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A 486 COMPUTER, DO NOT RUN THESE PROGRAMS!! **

  84.             FOR PLAYERS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH INSTALLING MC3:

  86.     Below are instructions for doing the manual installation of MC3,
  87.     for those players unable to install the game.

  90.     1) Type in letter of desired hard drive followed by a colon and
  91.        press {Enter}.  Example: C: {Enter}
  92.  
  93.     2) Type:  CD \
  94.  
  95.     3) Type:  MKDIR \MC3
  96.  
  97.     4) Type:  CD \MC3
  98.  
  99.     5) Place update disk in floppy drive and copy file DCMP.EXE to 
  100.        hard drive.  Example,  COPY A:DCMP.EXE

  102.     6) Copy and decompress the compress game files:

  145.     8) Type: SETUP to run setup and make sure configuration is ok (make
  146.        changes as needed) and then select CONFIGURE before choosing EXIT.

  149.        hard drive.
