  11. This file contains last minute information that wasn't available when the
  12. manual was printed.

  14. 1.0 SOUND CARD PROBLEMS
  15. -----------------------
  16.  
  17. If you are experiencing lock-ups while playing Lucky's Casino Adventure,
  18. this is probably due to some sort of sound card conflict.  If you have a
  19. Sound Blaster or compatible card, you may not have the IRQ or the Base Address
  20. at the default setting.
  21.  
  22. There is a utility on Disk One called SBDETECT.COM.  This utility will tell
  23. you the settings of your card.  Once you know the settings, run Lucky's
  24. Casino with the following command-line parameters:

  26. LCA /bBaseAddress /iIrqNum
  27.  
  28. So if your Sound Blaster or compatible card was at Base Address 260H and
  29. IRQ 2H, you would use:
  30.  
  31. LCA /b260 /i2
  32.  
  33. You only have to do this the first time you run Lucky's Casino Adventure.
  34. After that, the program will remember the settings.

  37. 2.0 VESA VBE 1.2

  40. Lucky's Casino Adventure should run without any modification to your
  41. system on most computers.  However, with a few video adapters the game may
  42. need a VESA driver.  Most video cards will come with drivers either built into
  43. their hardware or on software.  If you haven't got a driver for your card,
  44. contact the manufacturer.   You may also be able to find a driver on
  45. CompuServe or in the VESA directory on Lucky's Casino Adventure disk #4.
  46. We have provided drivers for most of the major video card manufacturers.

  48. 1.1 Which type of video card do I have?
  49.  
  50. If you are unsure of which type of video card is in your system, there are a
  51. couple of ways to find out.  The easiest is to reboot your computer and watch
  52. for the manufacturer's message to be displayed.  If this doesn't work, try
  53. this:
  54.  
  55. From the DOS sub-directory, type DEBUG [enter].
  56.  
  57. At the '-' prompt, type: D C000:0 [enter] and then type D [enter].
  58.  
  59. Manufacturer information for your video card should be displayed on
  60. the right side of the screen.  To quit from DEBUG type Q [enter].
