  5. NOTE: Installation of this update is not necessary if your README.EU1 from
  6. EUROPE I scenery says it is Version 1.02.

  9. Below each file this update installs is explained.
  10.  
  11. RE: EUR1_1.BGL
  12.  
  13. This file is a patch for the EUROPE I Scenery.  When properly installed, 
  14. this file effectively eliminates the pausing of .5 to 3 seconds that has been 
  15. reported.
  16.  
  17. This file replaces the EUR1_1.BGL that was shipped with the product.

  19.  
  20. RE: EUR1_3.BGL
  21.  
  22. This file is an update for the EUROPE I Scenery.  When properly installed 
  23. this file makes three VOR frequencies consistent with the maps included 
  24. with the software package.  The frequencies listed in the NAVLIST1.TXT file
  25. will also continue to work for these three VORs.

  36. RE: EUR1.HAZ and EUR1.PAL
  37.  
  38. These files make the haze feature of Flight Simulator 5.1 work with EUROPE I.
  39. They have no effect in releases of Flight Simulator prior to 5.1.
  40.  
  41. Please be aware that since EUROPE I was developed prior to Flight Simulator
  42. 5.1 there are the following known limitations:
  43.  
  44.    1.  Some mountains appear too white in low visibility conditions, even as
  45.        you get close.
  46.    2.  Some water will appear gray or white in low visibility.  The contrast
  47.        is particularly notable when you are on the border of the EUROPE I 
  48.        scenery and the default world of Flight Sim.
  49.    3.  Some airports don't come out of the haze properly.
  50.    4.  You will notice that the colors are not as intense as without
  51.        the haze palette.  We believe that these colors are more realistic.
  52.    5.  This patch is only effective if you have installed EUROPE I to your
  53.        hard disk.  If you are running from the CD-ROM (version 5.1 only) a
  54.        patch cannot be made.

  58.          FOR FLIGHT SIMULATOR VERSION 5.0 and 5.0a USERS ONLY

  60. The following installation steps should be performed by users of Microsoft
  61. Flight Simulator with Versions 5.0 or 5.0a.

  64.  [ indicated below or your 3.5" disk drive is not the A: drive then you   ]
  65.  [ must make the appropriate alterations to these procedures.             ]

  67. The following must be performed after installing EUROPE I Scenery from
  68. the diskettes or CD-ROM to your hard disk.  If you have downloaded this
  69. then unzip the files onto a floppy diskette using pkunzip.  (You will need to
  70. keep the diskette with your release media.)

  72.   1.  Place the update diskette in the A: drive.
  73.  
  74.   2.  Change to the A: drive by typing:

  78.   3.  Execute the self-extracting update by typing:

  114. reinstall the EUROPE I Scenery from diskette or CD-ROM.
