- BATTLEGROUND: GETTYSBURG readme
-
- GENERAL
-
- The program requires you to have the Battleground: Gettysburg CD in your
- computer's CD drive in order to be able to play the game.
-
- INSTALLATION SIZES: The following provides a guide to how many MB each
- type of installation will place on your hard drive.
- Compact Install: about 20 MB
- Typical Install: about 63 MB
- Custom Install: from 5 MB (no options selected) to 191 MB (all
- options selected)
-
- When attempting any type of modem play, both players must have the same
- version of the game.
-
- On p.30 of the Players Guide, the first two sentences of the last paragraph
- of the first column should read: "All regiments and batteries (of both
- sides) participating in a Melee automatically become Disrupted and have
- their Fatigue level increased by one. If the defending side loses a Melee,
- its survivors have their Fatigue level increased by one again and they are
- automatically retreated one hex by the program (and will have to undergo a
- Morale Check; see MORALE CHECKS below)."
-
- On p.31 of the Players Guide, the first two sentences of the second
- paragraph of 6.8 RALLY should read: "A *Routed* unit Rallies based on
- its Quality. However, if it is stacked with a leader whose Leadership
- Rating is greater than or equal to the Routed unit's Quality, his Rating
- is used for the Rally attempt *if* he is in the same organization as (or
- in a higher one than) the unit being Rallied."
- And the first sentence of the next paragraph should read: "If a
- *Routed* unit's die roll is less than or equal to the applicable Quality or
- Leadership Rating, it Rallies (i.e., loses its Routed status *and becomes
- Disrupted* - but cannot be returned to Good Order in the same turn)."
-
- Fnits cannot become Fixed *during* play. Fixed status can occur only
- automatically at the start of play.
-
- If a unit expends any part of its movement allowance during its Movement
- Phase, any attack it makes in the Offensive Fire Phase is halved.
-
- When Disrupted units are highlighted, the program also highlights each
- leader who is "out of command" (as explained under "Command Radius/Rating"
- on p.32 of the Players Guide).
-
-
-
- VERSION 1.02

-

- follows the procedure given in the Players Guide.
-

-
-
-
- VERSION 1.0
-
- Certain reinforcement entry hexes are "protected" in the sense that enemy
- units within a particular range of them will be automatically eliminated
- or routed when the reinforcements appear. More details on this can be
- found by Selecting "Scenario Notes" in the game's Help menu, then Selecting
- "8.0 Arrival Schedule".
-
- The "Undo Last Movement" (Ctrl-U) command cannot be used for a unit that
- has just captured a battery or leader.
-
- A supply wagon will automatically resupply each friendly, non-routed unit
- suffering from low/no ammo that is within *five* hexes of the wagon.
-
- If you Select "New" in the File menu to open a new scenario, only open one
- of the scenarios appearing in the currently open directory. Do *not*
- change directories.
-
- Below are listed the scenario titles, their corresponding file names, and
- the "module" each is found in. The "module" is important to know when you
- re-open a saved game; therefore you might find it handy to print a hard
- copy of this file for easy reference.

- * The "h" and "a" designations indicate "historical" and "alternative"
- A/I respectively. "Historical" means that the A/I will tend to move the
- various brigades, divisions and corps along historical lines. "Alternative"
- means that, aside from the correct entry points and times, their movements
- will not be restricted by their historical actions.
