  3. How to Install Aliens
  4.  
  5. 1 - Copy the contents of the diskette to the ALIENS directory on the hard disk.
  6.  
  7.     Example:  if the ALIENS directory is on C, type
  8.             c:\            (return)
  9.             cd aliens        (return)
  10.             copy a:\*.*        (return)
  11.  
  12. 2 - Then run the ALIEN103.EXE file
  13.         Type            ALIEN103                (return)
  14.  
  15. 3 - Afterwards, to run Aliens, to reinstall it or to change the sound
  16.   configuration, you must run the programs that are ON YOUR HARD DISK
  17.   (and not on the CD-ROM).  Of course you must also have the disk in
  18.   the CD-ROM drive in order to be able to run the game.

  48. Q:  My mouse panics and becomes uncontrollable.
  49. A:  Aliens can disturb some Logitec mouse drivers
  50.     (the 6.24 for example).  It's preferable to use a Microsoft mouse driver.

  52. Q:  Aliens clogs up when the Sheridan lands !
  53. A:  Some PCs and some sound cards present this problem.
  54.     A patch from Aliens 1.03 will correct the problem.

  56. Q:  When I get to the second CD, I can no longer save or dialog with the
  57.     characters.
  58. A:  This problem can occur with the first versions of Aliens.
  59.     A patch for the 1.03 version will correct the problem.

  61. Q:  When I try to install Aliens, Windows displays an error message.
  62. A:  Aliens functions in DOS mode.  So you have to reboot Windows in DOS mode.
  63.     Consult your Windows documentation if you don't know how to do this.

  65. Q:  I cannot access my CD-ROM drive.  A DOS informs me that the drive is not
  66.     valid.
  67. A:  Some badly configured PCs may allow access to the CD-ROM under
  68.     Windows 95, but not in DOS mode.  To do this you must reinstall Windows 95.

  70. Q:  I cannot install Aliens because the computer reboots each time.
  71. A:  You must have a non-VESA video card, or else a VESA 2.0 compatible video
  72.     card (e.g. the Matrox Millenium).  In this case, you must get a patch in order
  73.     to have the 1.03 version.  This will correct the problem.

  75. N.B.  You can run Aliens only if you have a VESA card that supports a resolution of 640x480.

  77. Q:  Sounds end prematurely and characters say "crrrrrrrrt" instead of talking.
  78.     Then the program displays "bad chunk in file.nis".
  79. A:  Your CD-ROM may be damaged.  Clean it and check for scratches.

  81. Q:  The game reboots all over the place.
  82. A:  Use scandisk to make sure your hard disk is all right, and reinstall
  83.     Aliens.

  85. Q:  I cannot install Aliens because I keep running into a red box full
  86.     of strange characters.
  87. A:  There is not enough room on the hard disk.  Make more space and completely
  88.     destroy the Aliens
  89.     directory on the hard disk.

  91. Q:  I can't get both music and sounds simultaneously on my Gravis.
  92. A:  That's normal.  Most games cannot play General MIDI compatible music and sounds at the same time.
  93.     This is because of the card itself and cannot be changed.

  95. Q:  Aliens doesn't run with my sound card.
  96. A:  Check that your sound card drivers are installed in the config.sys.
  97.     Otherwise, reinstall your sound card using the installation diskettes.
