- VERSION 3.6.2 (JULY 15, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1424 k
- BUG FIXES:
- Adding tags with an Insert window would not mark the file as being changed
- After opening a file, it would be marked as changed from the start, so even
- if you didn't make any changes you would get a prompt to save the changes
- when opening another file or closing the program.
-
-
- VERSION 3.6.1 (JUNE 24, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1424 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Added "Large File Warning" option. This sets how big a file must be before being
- prompted rather or not to colorize it. It can also be turned off entirely.
-
-
- VERSION 3.6.0 (JUNE 23, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1420 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- XP visual styles are now fully implemented
- Added "Open New Instance" to the Tools menu
- BUG FIXES:
- Inserting a linebreak at the end of selected lines (as explained in the Tip Of The
- Day window) was not not working correctly.
- Program was not fully closing upon exit; it would still be visible in the Task Manager
- Program would crash after turning on the menu icons option, then OKing the restart of
- the program.
- Roll-up button of Insert Table window wasn't working correctly
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Added a thin margin to the left of the main textbox to make it easier to use full-line
- selection.
-
-

- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1408 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Added direction option to the Find/Replace dialog
- When selecting an image to insert, the width and height properties will be
- automatically detected.
- Added "Typewriter Text" to Misc. Tag window
- If you have a URL highlighted when opening the Insert Link window, the selected
- URL will be copied into the URL field of the Link window.
- Ctrl+Space now inserts (the extra space symbol)
- Slightly better Undo/Redo. It can now be used multiple times, though some actions
- can't be undone and it will occassionally perform a Redo incorrectly.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Changed the titles of question message boxes to be descriptive, that way you can
- answer by only reading the title.
- Other minor changes
-
-
- VERSION 3.5.1 (MAY 27, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1384 k
- BUG FIXES:
- A dll file which the program uses has been effectively removed starting with Windows XP,
- replaced by a small dummy file and emulated by another dll. I was unaware of this until now
- and so since I began compiling the program under Windows XP (starting with version 3.4.3),
- the installer, when ran under previous Windows versions, would replace the older version file
- with the new one, causing this program, and all other programs which rely on the dll, to stop
- functioning. This problem has now been fixed and I apologize for the inconvenience. If you
- are running Windows 95/98 and have installed a version of this program which caused that
- problem, you can download a small (199k) program to correct it from the following URL:
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Waiting time for unregistered versions reduced to five seconds
-
-
- VERSION 3.5 (MAY 06, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1384 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Now when moving the text cursor, there is no annoying, quick movements of it, and when
- moving into values, it will now recognize rather it is a quoted or unquoted value,
- and respond properly when typing. (If it's unquoted, then a space will end the value
- and begin the next paramater as it should.) Any bugs involving the wrong colors being
- used after moving to a new location should also be gone. Whenever you paste text, it
- will always be colored correctly now as well.
- When inserting an image or a link, you can now choose a file on your harddrive, then select
- the path which will be relative to your webpage.
- In the Font Formatting window, next to the Color textbox, there is now a button to open the
- Color Converter.
- View -> File Properties
- Ctrl+L now inserts a list item (<li>)
- Added seven more scripts: Close Browser Window, Break Out Of Frames, Insert Current Date,
- Resolution Check, Random Content, Back-Forward, Back-Forward (Frames)
- In the Form Object window, you can now specify the size of a dopdown list in order to make
- it a ListBox.
- BUG FIXES:
- If there was exactly two characters between a set of tags, the first of which does not contain
- values, the second character would be removed upon coloring. (example: <b>hi</b>)
- OTHER CHANGES:
- The Color Converter window now only has one mode, fully open, instead of having to extend it
- to see the color sliders.
- Slight improvements made to inserting the Table tags
- Other minor changes: Moved the Help section of the Table window from the bottom to the right,
- Added two new Symbols, Improved the look of a couple of Insert windows
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.4.4 (APRIL 28, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1356 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- The Find/Replace dialog can now search for multi-line strings.
- BUG FIXES:
- After opening a file from the Recent menu, saving would sometimes not work
- In the FTP client, transferring more than one file at a time by using the Upload/Download
- menu commands, would not work. It would instead only transfer one of the files. The buttons
- to transfer files did work however, and it seems the problem didn't exist on Windows 98.
- Under Windows XP, holding Shift while clicking the Linebreak toolbar button, would not insert
- the tag at the end of the current line.
- When using either the Replace All command of the Find/Replace dialog or the Multi-File
- Replace tool, if the Replace text contained the Find text, the program would enter into
- an infinite loop because the Find text is not being removed. Now when using these funtions,
- only one pass is made through the file instead of until the Find text no longer exists.
- The Find Next button of the Find/Replace dialog was not working correctly
- In the Insert Image window, both the Border and the Align options were inserting the Alt text
- The program would occasionally crash when pasting an HTML tag
- When the "show icons in menus" option was turned off, the dropdown list of the Open toolbar
- button would not work.
- The text color of highlighted menu items, when using the "icons in menus" option without the
- "Office-style highlighting" option, is now correct. Previously, the text color would not
- change when highlighted, making it hard to read when using darker XP visual styles.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Changed the progress bar on the Wait screen for unregistered versions to show the amount of
- time used, instead of the amount of time remaining.
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.4.3 (APRIL 19, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1348 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- You can now add your own scripts in the Scripts window.
- The recently used documents list now contains up-to six items, instead of four. The menu
- has also been moved to a submenu and added as a drop-down list of the Open toolbar button.
- The menus now have icons in them, and you can customize their appearence in several ways.
- Now nearly every window has it's own distinctive icon, instead of them all using the same one.
- There is now a Help button on the Change Resolution dialog which will explain what the list
- of graphics modes mean.
- BUG FIXES:
- The Change Resolution dialog of the Preview window will now highlight the current mode when
- ran under XP.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Removed the option to customize the context menu text.
- Progress bars in the Multi-File Processing dialogs are now "flat" style.
- The borders of all flat buttons are now drawn using system colors, instead of simply black
- and white. This not only makes them look better when using different colored XP themes, but
- it also gives them a more subtle look when you mouse over or click them.
- Changed the Help icon in all of the Insert windows.
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.4.2 (MARCH 09, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1268 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- All icons are now XP-style
- By default, Windows treats .shtml files as text files, but now when you install the program
- they are given the same icon and behavior of .html and .htm files.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed an "overflow" problem that would occur somewhat frequently under XP
- Under XP, the current document would be marked as changed before you even started one,
- so after loading the program and opening a file, you would get a message box asking if you
- want to save the current file before opening the new one.
- The Save As dialog's title was incorrect
- In the FTP client, the percent complete would be incorrect if the file being transferred
- was a megabyte or more in size. This would also cause the elapsed and remaining time
- displays to not show up.
- If there is an error while transferring a file, it will no longer try to get the file list
- again as if the transfer had finished correctly.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Changed progress bars to "flat" style
- The progress bar in the FTP client is now only visible when being used
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.4.1 (MARCH 25, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1248 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- If the main window is minimized and you open a file for editing from the FTP client,
- the main window will now be un-minimized for you.
- You can now upload files that are zero bytes in size
- If you close the FTP client while a file from the FTP site is being edited, the Update
- toolbar and menu items in the main window will change back to Save.
- New "Check IE Version" tool
- BUG FIXES:
- If you transferred a file in the FTP client by using the right-click menu instead of the
- command buttons, you wouldn't be able to pop up the Queue menu to cancel a transfer.
- After cancelling a transfer in the FTP client, the next file to be transferred would show
- the filesize of the previous (cancelled) file to the left of the progress bar.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- If the FTP client returns an error with no description available, the description
- will be "Unknown Error" instead of being left blank.
- The coloring of a comment is now only ended by "-->", and not just "->". This wasn't a bug
- it was just that way for simplicity, because the only reason you should ever type "->" is
- if you are ending a comment with "-->". It has been changed just to be 100% correct.
- Re-designed About window
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.4 (MARCH 13, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1232 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Added several shortcut keys:
- Insert Linebreak: Ctrl+Enter (was Ctrl+B)
- Bold Text: Ctrl+B
- Italic Text: Ctrl+I
- Underlined Text: Ctrl+U
- Insert Comment: Ctrl+R
- View Preview: Ctrl+W
- Shortcut keys are now shown in the toolbar buttons' tooltips
- If you hold Shift while inserting a linebreak (either from the toolbar or with the
- Crtl+Enter shortcut), the tag will be added to the end of the current line. This
- works with multiple lines selected as well.
- When inserting a horizontal line, paramaters left blank will not be added to the tag
- Added Tip Of The Day window
- The FTP client is now more responsive while changing directories or transferring files.
- Previously, it was really slow to change directories in the local file list or to
- remove items from the transfer queue while a transfer is taking place.
- After pressing ">" to end a tag, if you then change your mind and backspace over it, the
- program will revert back to using the correct colors.
- BUG FIXES:
- When inserting or pasting a comment it would be placed at the beginning of the document
- Program would crash when minimizing FTP client
- The "Text" field for textboxes in the Insert Form Object window was not being inserted
- correctly.
- After cancelling an upload in progress, the progress bar would not be reset to empty
- Sometimes after clicking into a tag, newly typed text would not be colored correctly
- OTHER CHANGES:
- After a multi-file process is done, clicking Reset will no longer clear the list of files.
- Some minor optimizations when coloring to make the flicker of the cursor less noticeable
- when clicking or pressing the arrow keys.
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.3 (MARCH 05, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1220 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Site Manager in FTP client
- The FTP client can now be resized and maximized
- Added Last Modified date column to local file list in FTP client
- Replace All is now faster and will not re-color the document if the string was not found
- Multi-File Replace is now faster and also tells you how many instances were replaced
- In the Options dialog you can now turn on gridlines for the FTP file lists as well as toggle
- rather or not directories in the remote file list stay at the top when sorting by last
- modified date.
- New option: Recently used menu format.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed a potential problem with running the program in countries that write the date as
- dd/mm/yy instead of mm/dd/yy. I'm not 100% sure what effect the problem had, but it may
- have caused the program to completely not work in those countries.
- After opening a document at the root of a drive, such as "C:\index.html", the Open dialog
- would not work on the next attempt. You could fix this by opening a file in the Recent
- menu which was in a folder, then clicking Open, but now it's completely fixed.
- When sorting by date in the FTP client, files with a two-digit year in the 90s would be
- sorted as newer than files after the year 2000.
- Fixed a problem with using "include file"
- Replace was not working correctly, it was finding and highlighting the text, but not replacing
- it. I think this bug is from one of the 3.1.x versions.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- The Last Modified date in the FTP file list no longer includes seconds in the time
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.2 (FEBRUARY 22, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1160 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- The FTP client now supports uploading, downloading, and deleting multiple files at once,
- via a queue. The new queue also shows the current speed and elapsed/remaining time
- of the transfer. Also, you can can cancel a transfer by right-clicking the queue item
- and selecting Remove From Queue.
- In the FTP Client, "Auto" has been added to the Transfer Type dropdown. When in Auto mode
- it will automatically use the correct mode, either ASCII or Binary, depending on
- the type of file you are transferring.
- When you delete local files in the FTP client they are now sent to the Recycle Bin
- instead of being permanently deleted.
- Include Virtual is now supported. The difference between include virtual and include
- file is explained in the Misc Tag window.
- The current document no longer has to be saved in order for SSI to work when previewing
- The Replace Text function of the Multi-File Proccessor can now be case insensitive
- The "Edit with Bash HTML Editor" context menu now applies to .shtml files as well
- BUG FIXES:
- The "<" of the last comment in a page would not be colored correctly (from v3.1.2)
- If you tried to Edit or Download a directory in the FTP client you would get an error
- and be disconnected from the host.
- After disconnecting from an FTP site, the path you were in would still be shown above
- the file list.
- If you were disconnected from an FTP because of an error, the filelist would not be cleared
- If you had an unsaved document open, then began to Edit a file from an FTP site, when
- it prompts if you want to go ahead and open the FTP file, clicking No would still
- change the "Save" toolbar button to the "Update" button.
- When using the alphabetically-sorted Insert menu, the "Start List" items would not
- change to "End List".
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Slightly enlarged the Misc Tag window
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.1.2 (FEBRUARY 13, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1116 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- HTML coloring is now a LOT faster, in most cases two to three times as fast. This is due to the
- fact that now it takes the same amount of time to color 2 characters that are next to each other
- and of the same color as it does to color a string of 2,000 like characters. So when this is
- applied to comments and values twenty or thirty characters long, it really adds up. This also
- means that when opening text files which have no HTML tags, that there's no longer a need to hit
- the Cancel button, because it will be instantaneous.
- The Import From URL tool will now prompt you if you have an unsaved document open
- BUG FIXES:
- Standard Wizard would begin on the second tab, rather than the first (from v3.1)
- Both Wizards and the Import from URL tool would crash when HTML coloring is turned on (from v3.1)
- Sometimes HTML wouldn't be colored correctly when pasted (from v3.1.1)
- OTHER CHANGES:
- In the View menu the "In Web Browser" item has been renamed to simply "Preview"
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.1.1 (FEBRUARY 10, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1112 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- Added the "Margin" CSS attribute to the list of CSS properties (in the Advanced tab)
- The "Working Directory" button in the Preview window now not only shows the path that
- browser is working from, but also the path that the document you are working on is
- stored in. It also allows you to change the working directory to the current document's
- directory. This is useful when you've previewed one file, then opened a new file from
- another folder and previewed it without closing and re-opening the preview window, which
- causes the relative paths to images to be incorrect. So now you simply hit the Working
- Directory button and switch the working directory to be the same as the document that
- you're workin on and all of your images will show up.
- When pasting RTF formatted text that has Bold, Italics, or other styles, it will now be
- changed to match the style of the rest of your document.
- If HTML coloring is turned off, when you turn it on in the Options dialog and click OK
- the document will be colored, so now you don't have to click Refresh Colors after turning
- it on.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed the size of local files in the FTP client being returned as "ERROR"
- Fixed files occasionally being ordered incorrectly when sorted by filesize in the FTP client
- Using "Replace All" with color-coded HTML turned off would crash the program. That bug
- was introduced in version 3.1
- Select All was always disabled. Another new bug from version 3.1
- Sometimes the titlebar of the Preview window wasn't updating until you hit Refresh
- If you had HTML coloring on, copied some text to the clipboard, turned coloring off, then
- pasted the text, it would be pasted colored just as it was when you copied it. It will
- no longer do this.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Changed the title of the dialog which prompts you for a folder when you first open the
- Preview window from "Select A Folder" to "Select Working Directory"
- Changed the waiting time on unregistered versions to 10 seconds (it was 12)
-
-
-
- VERSION 3.1 (FEBRUARY 01, 2003)
- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 1100 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- When previewing a webpage, Server-Side Includes will now be processed. SSI is normally
- only possible when ran from a webserver, but now you can edit your pages offline and
- view them with full SSI support. This makes it much easier to see how your page will
- be displayed online, especially if some or all of your site's layout is included by SSI
- All Insert windows (and the Color Converter) now have a "roll-up" button for when you
- need a better view of your document without closing open windows.
- There is now an option to allow multiple Insert windows to be open at the same time
- Ctrl+B now inserts the <br> tag
- Added status bar to Preview window
- Added Stop and Home buttons to Preview window and redesigned the toolbar. The Home
- button reloads the page you are editing. However, The Refresh button will still work
- for this purpose if that is the page you are on.
- Added a button to Preview window which allows you to change screen resolutions
- Added a button to Preview window which shows the current working directory (the directory
- from which all paths are relative to).
- The titlebar of the Preview window now shows the webpage's title
- Added "Document Folder" to the View menu. It will launch the the folder that the current
- document is saved in
- The Center toolbar button will now wrap around any text you have highlighted
- The Replace All command in the Find/Replace dialog can now be case insensitive
- HTML coloring is now about 15% faster than before
- Added buttons to the Color Converter to add or subtract the values by 10
- Added "Javascript Document" to the Open/Save dialog's filetypes list
- The "right-click" keyboard button will now show the popup menu when in the main textbox
- BUG FIXES:
- Program would crash if in the Color Converter you tried to convert from HEX to RGB
- and either didn't enter a color code, or entered an incomplete one
- Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are now enabled in the HEX textbox of the Color Converter
- Program would crash if you opened an Insert dialog, then either opened a file or clicked
- Refresh Colors, and then attempted to insert text while HTML coloring was still occuring
- Sometimes in the Edit menu (and the right-click menu), Cut, Copy, and Delete would be
- grayed out until you moved your mouse over them.
- The "Selected" checkbox for Radio Buttons in the Form Objects window was not adding
- the paramater to the tag when inserted.
- When picking your page's colors in the Wizard, if you changed your mind and opened
- the color dialog again to alter the color, it would not still be set in the dialog,
- instead it would be defaulted back to one of the basic colors.
- Sometimes changing the font would only effect the first line of text
- Using Replace All would cause the entire document to be colored one color
- The automatic check for updates would not start checking at the set interval until
- after the first time you checked manually.
- All windows will now be displayed correctly when using large titlebars. Each window which
- is resized to a fixed height (such as when you click the help icon in an Insert window)
- was not taking into account that not everyone's titlebar is the same height, especially
- if you are using skinning software. Therefore the window may have been cut off at the
- bottom by a few pixels.
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Changed the About dialog's animation
- Added a note to remove the script language tag from externally used scripts
- The Cancel button now has focus when coloring HTML
- Default font changed to Courier New 11pt

- linebreaks.
- Added "Message Box", and "Confirmation Box" in the Scripts window
- Added "Embed Multimedia" in the Misc. Tag window
- Added nearly every CSS property to the CSS window as well as a guide to using CSS
- The Insert Table window will now move to the correct position when adding paramaters
- to a tag. Basically, this eliminates the need to click into the tag and add a space
- before clicking one of the buttons. You can fill out a value, then click a new button
- and it will automatically move out of the value and add a space after it before adding
- the next paramater.
- Option to work offline in Preview window

- The path is used as the initial directory of the Open dialog.
- New "samples" folder for example pages. There are only two samples so far though.

- file as changed.
- Fixed the tabstops in the wizards
- Tooltip text of Font Formatting toolbar button was wrong
- Moved "#anchorname" from the Target dropdown to the URL dropdown in the Insert Link window
- Added Escape key support to a few windows which didn't have it

- Combined 'Select All'/'Copy To Clipboard' buttons in Page Transition window

- The "format HTML code when opened by Internet Explorer" option is now obsolete.
- A new formatting technique which is nearly instantaneous is now always used instead.
- New "fix file formatting" tool to correct the linebreaks in files which have been
- stored on unix webservers.
- The save as dialog will now prompt you before overwriting a file that already exists
- Added a button to the insert table window to clear the tag count
- The tag counts in the table window now more clearly show what tags are open by
- displaying a larger number of open tags in bold. Also, if you mistakingly add
- more close tags then you have open, it will display the number in red.
- The font face, color, and size tags in the insert font window will now wrap around
- any text which may be highlighted.

- NEW FEATURES:
- Added "meta refresh" to the scripts window

- used for more than just links. You can use it for nearly anything, including images,
- buttons, list items, and table cells.
- FTP client now checks for an internet connection before attempting to connect to an FTP.
- This prevents the program from crashing when no connection is available.
- Sorting by last modified date in the FTP client is now by actual date, not just alphabetic
- Pressing enter in one of the login textboxes of the FTP client will now connect to the FTP
- Added right-click menu to files in the FTP client
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed the "check for new version" tool to work with the Bash Software website's new host
- Fixed a bug with the about window flying off the screen if the program "Windowblinds"

- MAIN EXE FILE SIZE: 836 k
- NEW FEATURES:
- You can now sort the files in the FTP client by clicking the column headers
- Now when windows can't determine the size of a file it will show "error" as the size instead
- of being blank. When this happens it's just a temporary problem and will usually begin
- working again after a minute. I don't know what causes this as it is out of my control.
- The trial time has been extended to 30 days (it was 25)
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed a bug with the preview window not showing the correct file the first time it is loaded
-
-
-
