  13. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  15. Minimum configuration: 
  16.  - 386 PC with 6 MB of RAM and 4 MB of free disk space 
  17.    (Please note that the version of Opera 5.0 that includes Java
  18.    requires at least a Pentium 166MHz processor, 32 MB of RAM and 65 MB
  19.    free hard drive space to run)
  20.  - Windows 95 or higher operating system 
  21.  - 9.600 bps modem 
  22.  
  23. Recommended configuration: 
  24.  - Pentium class system with 16 MB of RAM and at least 4 MB of free disk 
  25.    space, more for the version of Opera 5.0 that includes Java.
  26.  - Windows 95 or higher operating system 
  27.  - 28.800 bps modem or higher connection

  30. INSTALLING OPERA 
  31.  
  32. The Wise Installation Wizard will take you through the following steps 
  33. (please note that you use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to move back 
  34. and forward between them): 
  35.  
  36. "Welcome" 
  37.  
  38. Welcomes you to the Wise Installation Wizard and Opera. 
  39.  
  40. "Software Licence Agreement" 
  41.  
  42. This is the software licence agreement which must be accepted before you 
  43. may install Opera. Read this agreement carefully! 
  44.  
  45. "Select Destination Directory" 
  46.  
  47. This is where you select where on your hard drive you want to place 
  48. Opera. If you do not want Opera to be placed in the suggested catalogue, 
  49. press "Browse" and browse your way to a suitable catalogue (or you can 
  50. just type in the path). When you're done, press "Ok" and continue the 
  51. installation.

  53. "Icon Creation" 
  54.  
  55. The installer program will place shortcuts to Opera on the Desktop and 
  56. in the Start Menu by default. Uncheck the boxes if you do not wish to 
  57. have these shortcuts created.

  59. "Select Group" 
  60.  
  61. Here you select where on the Start Menu to place Opera. Opera will place 
  62. itself in its own slot by default, but you can decide to place it in 
  63. another slot if you want. Select one of those displayed or type in your 
  64. own.

  66. "Ready to Install!" 
  67.  
  68. When you press "Next" in this menu, Opera will be installed the way 
  69. you've decided it in the previous steps. Please note you can always 
  70. press the "Cancel" button up to this point to abort the installation.

  72. "Installation Completed!"

  74. The installation is completed. Press the "Finish" button to close the 
  75. Wise Installation Wizard.

  78. STARTING OPERA FOR THE FIRST TIME

  80. In order to start Opera, double click the Opera icon on your desktop or 
  81. press the Opera icon on the Start Menu.

  83. When you open Opera for the first time, you will be notified that the 
  84. copy you have is an evaluation copy. After the evaluation time 30 user 
  85. days has passed, you'll have to purchase a license for your copy of 
  86. Opera.

  89. from "Help/Contents...", or by clicking "F1" on your keyboard.

  92. PURCHASING A LICENSE FOR YOUR COPY OF OPERA

  106. to you containing your Registration Code. Go to "Help/Register Opera..." 
  107. and write in your name and your Registration Code. "Company" is 
  108. optional.

  110. You should copy and paste your code rather than type it in, as it may or  
  111. may not contain foreign characters, as well as characters which may 
  112. resemble each other in certain fonts. Please try to either right-click and 
  113. select "copy" or "paste", or you could try using the keyboard shortcut 
  114. "CTRL" + "C" to copy and "CTRL" + "V" to paste.
