Improved international character-set support and added international
support for Autosearch are included.
BETTER CORPORATE ADMIN SUPPORT
==============================
Version 3.1 of the IEAK now has better corporate administrator support. Some
features include:
Automatic Configuration
=======================
During initialization, the browser will connect to an Intranet URL and
retrieve a settings file that will automatically change configurations
such as Proxy, Start & Search page, Quicklinks, Restricted Option menu items,
etc. Also, Admins can easily administer configuration files using a new
tool called INSEDIT (select 'Tools and Resources' from the main menu and
navigate to the \TOOLS\EDITOR folder).
NetMeeting
----------
The IEAK wizard now allows admins to fine-tune their NetMeeting settings.
Disabling Audio functionality or enabling calls over the IPX/SPX protocol
are just two of the many options available.
ANIMATED LOGO SUPPORT IN THE IEAK WIZARD
========================================
The IEAK kit wizard now enables you to customize the animated logo that is
displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the toolbar when the browser
is actively loading content from the Web. Previously only the static logo
was available for customization. If you choose to replace the logo, you
need to supply large and small versions of your customized animation in
bitmap form. The bitmap must contain a vertical stack of animation cell
images that follow these Internet Explorer animation rules:
* Your animation palette can contain only 256 colors.
* Each animation cell must be 38 by 38 pixels, or 26 by 26 pixels, for large
and small animation images respectively.
* Cells 1 through 4 are lead-in cells that are played when Internet Explorer
begins to browse.
* Cells 5 through X, where X is the total number of cells, loop until the
browse operation is complete.
You can find examples of these animations by looking at
\reskit\artwork\ie_logo\26x26ani.bmp and 38x38ani.bmp in the IEAK folder.
INITIAL INTERNET EXPLORER 3.01 START PAGE REMOVAL
=================================================
Internet Explorer will load a special Microsoft start page the first
time it is started on the end user's computer. The IEAK wizard has an
option to remove this page. This option, however, was sometimes being
ignored and the page was displayed regardless of what was selected in the
wizard. The IEAK 3.01 update has addressed this problem and the start page
will no longer appear if specified not to in the Wizard.

OVERVIEW DOCUMENTS
------------------
Online Help is available from the wizard. You must run setup.exe to view Help. In addition to overview information about IEAK, this HTML-based Help provides you with step-by-step procedures for creating your own custom browser.
--------------------------
GENERAL SETUP REQUIREMENTS
--------------------------
A large amount of free disk space is required for processing. Before starting the wizard, calculate how much disk space is required for all components you want to install. Then make sure you have four times that required amount of disk space free on both your destination drive and temp drive. If you want to create CD-ROM files, you will also need an additional 80 MB of free disk space on the destination drive. Note that if the destination drive is the same as the temp drive, eight times the space is required. If you are running Windows NT, make sure your pagefile is 40 MB or greater.
Note
* If you encounter any file-copying errors while the wizard is running,
or if the Msie30.exe self-extracting package does not function properly,
close any programs that are open, and then restart the wizard. If you're still experiencing problems, delete any files you do not need.
If you are creating the IEAK on a local drive, run ScanDisk on that drive.
To run ScanDisk, click the Start button, click Run, type SCANDISK
and then click OK.
-----------------------------
AFTER YOU RUN THE IEAK WIZARD
-----------------------------
The wizard creates customized versions of Internet Explorer and copies them
to separate folders, depending on the types of distribution media you
selected at the beginning of the wizard.
CD DISTRIBUTION
The CD folder contains the files for burning onto a CD-ROM. To replicate a
CD-ROM, point your CD-burning software at this folder. Make sure the files
and folders at the root of this folder are copied to the root of the CD-ROM.
FLOPPY DISK DISTRIBUTION
The Floppy folder contains the files for floppy disks. Copy all of the files
from each subfolder to a single master floppy disk.
ONLINE DISTRIBUTION
The Download folder contains configuration files for downloading Internet
Explorer. You can post the files in this folder as a package for online
distribution.
--------------------
NOTE ABOUT FAVORITES
--------------------
If you choose to add customized shortcuts to the Favorites folder, note that
if the user already has a shortcut with the same name, the old shortcut will
not be overwritten.
For example, suppose a user already has a version of Internet Explorer and
a shortcut in the Favorites folder called "My Home Page" pointing to
http://homepage.com. If the user then installs your custom browser, and
the default Favorites folder contains a shortcut with the
name My Home Page, the old shortcut will be preserved.

DOCUMENTATION UPDATES: CORPORATE ADMINISTRATORS
-----------------------------------------------
The conf.adm policy template file enables corporate administrators to set
policies for NetMeeting. Conf.adm is located in \reskit\tools\policy folder.
