-
- - After reviewing users feedback, I've decided to add
- tech support issues into this part of the documentation
-
-
- Installing HardTrack
- ---------------------
- - Because HardTrack can be used manually, before a software install,
- or automatically, or as an auditing tool, there are 3 different
- install procedures.
- - To use HardTrack on a single system Hard Drive, just copy the
- HDT.EXE file to a DOS path directory, such as C:\DOS or C:\UTILS.
- - Type PATH at the DOS prompt to figure out which directory is a
- Path directory.
- - Refer to the installation guide in HDT.DOC for exact install
- procedures.
-
- Terminology - Problem Resolution
- ---------------------------------
- - HardTrack has been designed to be EXTREMELY easy to use.
-
- - A TRACKER Path is the directory used to store HardTrack scan files.
- - Once you configure the TRACKER path, do not change it.
- - You'll notice Tracker Path prompts whenever you run an option.
- - These are ONLY for PC Adminstrators use, allowing HardTrack to
- be used on different PC's, using a floppy disk.
-
- - Also, do not add a 'PC NAME'. That is also reserved for PC
- Administrators auditing use.
- - If you happen to use a PC NAME, be aware it is treated as an
- additional subdirectory under the Tracker Path.
-
- - I STRONGLY recommend that once you configure HardTrack, you do
- NOT change Tracker Path or PC NAME, unless you are auditing
- several computers.
-
- - If you have problems using option 'D - Determine Changes', it's
- probably because you have not used option 'C - Create'.
- - HardTrack requires a previous scan, before it can determine
- current changes.
