- This is version 2.9 of this directory utility. The next update will
- have windows in the editor to do various editing functions. The utility will
- list a directory or specified subdirectories as long as the parameters are
- specific. You can list a subdirectory by typing in the subdirectory name as a
- parameter with or without the \ (at the end of a subdirectory) or a : (at the
- end of a drive) at the end of the parameter string. The parameters for the
- edit section have been updated so you can display other file paramaters than
- just *.* (Overlooked in 2.3...) You can also get listings of other disk
- drives such as floppy drives.
- You can get a full listing of the commands and switches by typing /h or
- /?. The program will also display the amount of space on a drive by typing
- the /d switch.
- This utility also has an editor that is invoked by typing HDEDIT from
- the main prompt in DOS. Like 2.3 it still has the /e command but it just
- tells you to type HDEDIT from DOS. This function will allow you to set the
- colors and parameters that you use the most. If you type a switch into the
- command parameters it does override the default settings. This program will
- set up the default file (hd.cfg) if it doesn't already exist. One thing that
- is very important is that you don't rename the original data or EXE files.
- HD.CFG is the file the program searches for. If you want a different name set up a
- batch file to access it, otherwise you will end up with HD.CFG files
- everywhere you call the program and no listing at all if you rename the EXE
- File. You also need to put the program on a drive that is in your path.
- The program is now faster since I took out redundant code and made the
- wide listing section more efficient. The error of the previous version
- concerning the current drive (drive only parameters) have been corrected so
- that if you want a root drive you have to specify the drive with the \ on the
- end, otherwise you get the last sub-directory you were in on that drive. This
- program has been found to be unreliable with two video cards installed at the
- same time. If you have two cards make sure both monitors are hooked up. It
- will probably default to the second, I haven't figured out why it does this
- but I will probably have that solved by the next update. You can now search
- with directories first, and by extension, size, or date, as of version 2.3 it
- now it will. You can now also get a listing of the drive size by using the /d
- parameter, however, no other parameters are allowed with the /d. The next
- release will have attribute sorts as well.

- with other utilities for $25 at the address above.
