- SYMANTEC CORPORATION - PETER NORTON PRODUCT GROUP
- UNINSTAL.DOC file for THE NORTON ANTIVIRUS Version 1.5
- June 17, 1991
-
-
- This file contains information about UNINSTAL.EXE.
-
- UNINSTAL.EXE is the program that removes the command line from
- within CONFIG.SYS that was placed there by the Install program.
- This command line causes Virus Intercept (NAV_.SYS or NAV&.SYS)
- to be loaded into memory each time you start your computer.
-
- Command Format: UNINSTAL [d:]
-
- where [d:] is the name of your boot drive
-
- Background Information:
-
- This program is used to change your system configuration so that
- Virus Intercept does not load each time you reboot your system.
- Following execution of this program you will need to reboot your
- system in order to remove Virus Intercept from memory.
-
- Later, if you wish to resume using Virus Intercept you may use
- the Install program to restore the command line in CONFIG.SYS.
-
- You may use a text file editor to change your CONFIG.SYS file.
- Deleting the command line which loads Virus Intercept will have
- the same effect as running this program. (You will still need to
- reboot.) Also, restoring the command line will then cause Virus
- Intercept to be loaded each time you reboot your system.
-
- The command line in your CONFIG.SYS file should appear as follows:
-
- DEVICE=[d:][path]NAV_.SYS
-
- where [d:] is the name of the drive and
- [path] is the directory in which you have
- installed The Norton AntiVirus.
