What does it do ?
Action-Pro is a list management software package that allows you to
maintain and manage simple reminder lists to complex tasks and projects.
Now your life can be more organised with Action-Pro gently reminding
you of priorities and deadlines.
Enter items into a list simply by pressing the INSert key and giving
each item a description, a priority and date the item must be completed
by. Each item can also have a category assigned to it so you can enter
information for more than one project into each list. For example you
could have a category simply called HOME and put all the chores you need
to do around the house into it.
Once a list has items in it, it can then be ordered by any of the
information given to it. ie by date, priority, category or item. So, at
a glance you can see what needs to be done for which category by which
date!
Filters can be set to narrow down the view of items displayed. For
example, you could select all items to be done this week and the display
would adjust to display just these - if anything needs to be done this
week of course! Check out the other display options from this menu.
Printed lists can also be prepared by these options for output to over
150 printers.
A mouse controlled interface and simple pulldown menu system makes this
software package one of the easiest to use!

Support for over 150 printers is supplied including laser and postscript.
How easy is to to use ?
If you can load a disk into your computer, then you can use Action-Pro.
You do not need specialised project management or computer knowledge,
just common sense.
Feedback over the years from users of all kinds has been incorporated
into the program and the manual, making the program exceptionally user-
friendly.
Who can use it ?
Whether for business or personal use, Action-Pro can be used by almost
anyone.
How does it compare to other software ?
With enough time patience and skill, you might set up a system with much
the same functionality as Action-Pro.
We think you probably have better uses for your time, patience and skill!
Traditional project management software has its place, but many users
like you find it far more difficult, expensive, time consuming and
frustrating than they can afford or are willing to tolerate.
Will it run on my computer ?
Action-Pro will run on all 100% IBM-compatible PCs with either EGA or
VGA display monitor. Requires hard disk and optional printer.
How do I run it ?
Simply type ACTION, and the main menu is displayed on the screen.
Use the mouse to point at want you want to do to make it happen.
If you do anything wrong, the program will gently tell you so. If you get
stuck, a manual is available direct from Wessex systems for the cost of
printing and postage. (See the section 'Acquiring a manual and disk set'
from the main menu).
If you get lost, the Esc key will always bring you safely back to base.
How many different lists can I set up ?
There is no restriction within the Action-Pro system as to how many
lists you set up. The only limitation is the available space on your
disk.
How many items will each list hold ?
Generally, there is no restriction within the Action-Pro system and
you are limited to the available disk space. However, there is a
theoretical limitation of 1,000,000,000 records per database. (One
hell of a project!)
How do I produce reports ?
Simply click on the 'Print' menu option and you will be provided with
a list of standard reports. Once a report is selected you can choose
whether you want to print to screen or printer and select sort orders.
All with the mouse!

specific instructions that came with your disk. If you
received a disk from a friend or colleague with the
Action-Pro system on, please refer back to them.

Systems if you are having problems. See the section
'Acquiring manual and disk set' from main menu of this
readme file.
Action-Pro works well under windows 3.x especially in 386
enhanced mode if you have a 386 or higher processor - start
windows with the command 'win /3'.
If you want to run Action-Pro in a window within windows you
will need the Microsoft mouse driver V8.2 or higher. If, when
you load MOUSE.COM, it reports a version prior to 8.2 contact
Microsoft technical support and they will forward a new driver
free of charge. Alternatively, send for a manual today and ask
us for the Microsoft mouse drive. We can send it to you with
your manual. Replace any occurrences of MOUSE.COM with the
newest version and Action-Pro will function correctly under
windows.
If in doubt, consult the user manual which is available from
Wessex Systems. There is a section dedicated to running
Action-Pro under windows. See the main menu option 'Acquiring
manual and disk set'.
Under DOS
The Action-Pro package should have been distributed with a file
named ACTION.BAT. This is a simple DOS batch file which changes
directory and starts the Action-Pro package. To run this file
and start the Action-Pro system,
type ACTION at the DOS prompt
and press the ENTER
 key.
If this file is missing or gives you the response 'Bad command or file
name', type the following:

Under Windows 3.x
From the program manager, click on

 - then press the enter key.
The mouse can be used under both DOS and WINDOWS environments to click on
menu items or to double click on actions to edit them. Menus can also
be activated using the ALT key and the first letter of the menu item.
ie hold down ALT and press F for file menu.
The following keys displayed throughout the Action-Pro package can be
used from the keyboard or can be clicked on with the mouse.

                   Escape key
The calendar can be called up at any time using the F9 key or from the
file menu. Use the calendar to enter dates when editing the Action date
on an existing or new item.
Adding/Editing items
Select Edit or Add from the edit menu, or press the Enter or INS keys.
Printing
Before printing for the first time, a printer must be selected from the
Print main menu. Highlight a printer using the cursor keys and press  the
enter key.
For detailed help, usage notes and examples, please read the menu item
'Acquiring manual and disk set' from the main menu.
A manual with updated disk set can be provided by Wessex
Systems if you are having problems. See the section
'Acquiring manual and disk set' from main menu of this
readme file.
