  20. System Requirements

  22. To run all tests:
  23.  
  24.         MSDOS(tm) Version 3 or higher
  25.         500KB free memory
  26.         40MB free disk space
  27.  
  28. Less than 40MB disk space is acceptable, but prohibits calculation of
  29. the DOSMark(tm) score. Installation is accomplished in two stages,
  30. file transfer and licensing. The first stage is performed via an
  31. installation program that copies and decompresses the files to your
  32. system hard disk. The files are stored on the diskette in compressed
  33. form, and the installation program expands the compressed files to a
  34. DOS-compatible format. The second stage of the installation procedure
  35. requires you to run the licensing program. The licensing procedure
  36. requires your consent to the terms and conditions, and you must enter
  37. your name and organization at the licensing prompts. To run the
  38. Install program:
  39.  
  40. 1. Insert the disk in the drive. Make it the current drive by typing the
  41. drive letter followed by a colon, then press the ENTER key. Type INSTALL
  42. and press the ENTER key to activate the installation program. For example:
  43.  
  44.     A:
  45.     INSTALL
  46.  
  47. Three menu choices are provided. Readme (R), Installation (I), Exit (X).
  48. The letter in parentheses indicates the letter you may type to select the
  49. menu choice. If your mouse is working, two mouse clicks on the menu item
  50. will also select and activate the choice. Select -Installation-. 
  51.  
  52. You are prompted for the Source Drive, the Destination Drive and the
  53. Destination Path.
  54.  
  55. The installation process will create a new directory on your hard disk
  56. drive according to the information provided for the destination path. It
  57. will expand the contents of the diskette onto your hard disk drive into
  58. standard DOS format.
  59.  
  60. NOTE: If a file is accidentally deleted, you may run the install program
  61. again. If a file previously exists it will ask if you want to overwrite
  62. the file. You may choose the letter -Y- for Yes or -N- for No. Data file
  63. templates are included in the self-extracting file. Therefore, overwrite
  64. them only if you desire to erase the data that you may have previously
  65. created. The Database files have the suffix *.DBF and *.MDX.

  67. 2. Run the BENCH licensing utility. Example:

  69.     BENCH /L
  70.  
  71. The terms and conditions are presented on the screen. You are required to
  72. provide your Name and Organization under the terms of the Licensing
  73. Agreement. Follow the directions on the display. Bench is now installed.

  75. 3. At this point you should print or type the help file:
  76.  
  77.     TYPE HELPME     or 
  78.     MORE < HELPME    or
  79.     PRINT HELPME
  80.  
  81. WARNING: Additional information crucial to running the benchmark program
  82. is contained in the help file called HELPME (This file is not available
  83. until file installation is completed). Follow the instructions contained
  84. therein.
