- "net profit" is typed, PMSEEK does not find a match unless both words occur
- together.

- field. You can type the exact name or use the * as a global file name

- o M*JV.TXT lists all .TXT files that begin with M and end with JV.
- o *.TXT lists all .TXT files.
- o MJV.* lists all files with the name MJV.

- PMSEEK also allows you to search multiple disk drives. You can select from the
- pushbuttons or type the requested search condition. Some examples are:

- C:PMSEE* searches drive C: only
- CD:PMSEE* searches drives C and D
- *:PMSEE* searches ALL attached drives

- Type the name of the text string you are looking for in the Text to search for
- field. If no specific text string is desired, leave this field blank.

- Command, type a command (such as COPY, ERASE, or RENAME) in the field provided.

- name -- otherwise, the file name is appended to the end of the command.

- To COPY "AUTOEXEC.BAT" to "AUTOEXEC.TMP," you would type COPY @ *.TMP

- To ERASE "AUTOEXEC.TMP," you would only have to type ERASE.

- To search for a file:

- 1. Type a file name in the File name to search for field.
- 2. If you want to search for a specific string of text, type the text in the
- Text to search for field.
- 3. Select a drive to search if you did not specify it in the search field.
- 4. Select Options, then select from the following:

- o Search subdirectories
- o Display found text
- o Ignore case
- o Clear on search

- 5. Select Search.
- 6. When the search is finished, highlight a file from the Files found list
- box.
- 7. Select Selected, then select one of the following:

- o Open
- o Process
- o Command

- Use PMSEEK to quickly search one or more disks for files or text.

- When a file match is found, it is displayed in the Files found list box. You
- can open or run the selected file. You can also process commands (such as
- COPY, ERASE, or RENAME) against the selected file.

- When text is found, it is displayed above the file name in the Files found list
- box.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. Keys Help for PMSEEK ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- Within the PMSEEK window, several function keys are supported for those who do
- not wish to use the mouse.

- F1 Displays online help information.

- F2 Saves the contents of the Files found list.

- F4 Clears the search area.

- F5 Clears the File Name to Search for field and moves the cursor to the
- field.

- F6 Clears the Text to Search for field and moves the cursor to the
- field.

- F10 Displays the PMSEEK system menu.

- Alt Displays the PMSEEK system menu.

- PgUp Scrolls up a page within the active Files found list. The Files
- found list box must be the active field.

- PgDn Scrolls down a page within the active Files found list. The Files
- found list box must be the active field.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 15. Using Drag and Drop ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- This function enables you to easily edit a selected file with Enhanced Editor.
-
- Note: Before you use this function, Enhanced Editor must be started and
- minimized to where you can see the icon while PMSEEK is active.

- To edit a selected file from the Files found list box:
-
- 1. Highlight the file by pressing mouse button 1.
- 2. Press and hold mouse button 2. The mouse pointer changes shape.
- 3. Drag the mouse pointer to the Enhanced Editor icon. The mouse pointer
- changes shape when it is over the Enhanced Editor icon.
- 4. Release mouse button 2. An Enhanced Editor window containing the selected
- file appears.
