-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.1. Object of the Game ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The object of Reversi is to have more red color pieces on the board at the end
- of the game than the computer has blue. The game is over when all the squares
- on the board have been filled or no legal moves exist.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.2. Playing the Game ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- To begin a new game:
-
- 1. Select Game.
- 2. Select New.
-
- Red plays first unless Pass is used to make the computer go first. Place your
- red piece on any vacant square next to a blue piece that completes a
- horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row such that a red piece is on both ends.
- When you trap a blue piece in this manner it is turned to red.
-
- A move may result in trapping pieces in multiple directions, provided they are
- in direct line with the played piece.
-
- To make a move:
-
- 1. Move the pointer to an empty square.
- 2. Press mouse button 1.
-
- Note: A legal move is indicated by a + symbol.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3. Rules of the Game ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- o Red has the option to play the first piece, or select Moves, then Pass to
- make the computer go first.
- o Use Pass during the game when a legal move is not possible.
- o Each move must result in turning over at least one of the computer's blue
- pieces.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.4. Helpful Hints ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- o Select Moves, then Hint for a clue on your next move.
- o The largest number of traps is not always the most strategic move.
- o The corners are valuable positions to hold.
- o Avoid the four squares in from the corners.
- o Fill in the center before expanding outwards to the sides.
