- PATTERN allows you to store a part-independent file
- containing geometry, dimensions, notes, labels, and
- crosshatching. You can retrieve a pattern at any time and
- add it to the part that you are working on. Saving a part
- as a pattern file allows you to recall and display it at
- any angle, in any scale, and to any level. This capability
- is extremely useful when you are creating a layout.
-
- Choose one of the following options:
-
- CREATE - to store entities as a pattern by selecting the
- desired entity(ies) for the pattern file, using a
- Selection Menu option.
-
- Indicate a base position for your pattern, using a
- Position Menu option. This base position is used for
- placing the pattern in other parts.
-
- Enter a valid filename and press <Enter>, or accept the
- default name by pressing <Enter>. If you enter the
- filename of an existing pattern file, you are prompted
- to indicate whether you want to replace the existing file.
- Choose an option from the NO/YES menu.
-
- RETRIEV - to retrieve a previously saved pattern file.
-
- Enter the name of an existing pattern file, without an
- extension, and press <Enter>. If you include an extension
- (e.g., .ptn), it is ignored.
-
- Specify whether or not the pattern file entities are to be
- grouped. If you choose to group the entities, assign a
- group name and, if necessary, a subgroup number, and press
- <Enter>.
-
- Set the level assignments for entities in the pattern file
- in one of the following ways:
-
- - by assigning all entities in the pattern file to the
- current active level when retrieved (CUR-LEV).
-
- - by retaining the level assignment that each entity in
- the pattern file had when the pattern file was created
- (ENT-LEV).
-
- - by assigning all entities in the pattern file to a
- specified level (KEY-IN).
-
- Enter a new level number for the pattern file entities.
- Enter the desired level number (1-256) and press <Enter>,
- or just press <Enter> to assign the entities to the
- current active level.
-
-
- - by calculating a new level number for each entity in
- the pattern file by adding a user-specified integer to
- each entity's current level number (OFFSET).
-
- Enter a positive or negative integer for the desired
- offset factor and press <Enter>, or just press <Enter> to
- retain the level assignments that were in effect when the
- pattern file was created.
-
- If the offset calculation results in an invalid level
- number (i.e., less than 1, greater than 256), you are
- prompted to press <Enter> and to enter a new offset
- factor.
-
- With the DETAIL, SET, AUTO UP switch set to YES, the scale
- factor is applied to all entities in the pattern file
- except the displayed and actual values of angular
- dimensions, and the displayed values of manually entered
- dimensions.
-
- Enter a scale factor for the pattern file and press
- <Enter>. To accept the default value in parentheses, press
- <Enter>.
-
- The pattern can be rotated by entering a new rotation
- angle. Positive angle values move in a counter-clockwise
- direction. Negative angle values move clockwise. Enter a
- rotation angle and press <Enter>, or accept the current
- default by pressing <Enter>.
-
- Locate a base position for the pattern within the current
- part by selecting an option from a Position Menu option.
-
- The pattern is displayed in the current part file, at the
- specified scale and rotation angle.
-
-
- LIST/RTV (list/retrieve) - to list, select, and retrieve
- pattern files from a designated directory.
-
- Enter the pathname for the pattern file directory, and
- press <Enter>. The default path in parentheses is the
- pattern file directory assigned in the CONFIG program. To
- accept the default directory, press <Enter>.
-
- A listing of all pattern filenames in the designated
- directory is displayed on the screen. If you selected a
- VERBOSE filename listing (FILES, LIST FMT, VERBOSE),
- detailed display of information is displayed.
-
- Choose the desired filename.
-
- Choose from the NO/YES menu to specify whether or not the
- pattern file entities are to be grouped. If you choose YES
- to group the entities, you are then prompted to assign a
- group name and, if necessary, a subgroup number, and press
- <Enter>.
-
- Set the level assignments for entities in the pattern file
- in one of the following ways:
-
- - by assigning all entities in the pattern file a to the
- current active level when retrieved (CUR-LEV).
-
- - by retaining the level assignment that each entity
- in the pattern file had when the pattern file was created.
- (ENT-LEV)
-
- - by assigning all entities in the pattern file to a
- user-specified level. (KEY-IN)
-
- - by calculating a new level number for each entity in
- the pattern file by adding a user-specified integer to
- each entity's current level number.(OFFSET)
-
- With the DETAIL, SET, AUTO UP switch set to YES, the scale
- factor is applied to all entities in the pattern file
- except the displayed and actual values of angular
- dimensions, and the displayed values of manually entered
- dimensions.
-
- Enter a scale factor for the pattern file and press
- <Enter>. To accept the default value in parentheses, press
- <Enter>.
-
- The pattern can be rotated by entering a new rotation
- angle. Positive angle values move in a counter-clockwise
- direction. Negative angle values move clockwise. Enter a
- value for the rotation angle and press <Enter>, or accept
- the default value by pressing <Enter>.
-
- Locate a base position for the pattern within the current
- part by selecting an option from a Position Menu option.
-
- The pattern is displayed in the current part file, at the
- specified scale and rotation angle.
