-
- C. Vendor Support
- Drivers developed by the following graphic vendors should
- be contacted directly for comments / support questions:
- Compaq, Control Systems, Datapath, DGIS, Everex, Genoa, HP,
- IMAgraph, Infotronic, Matrox, Metheus, NEC, Nth Engine,
- Number 9, Pixelworks, TIGA, Univision, VESA, Vectrix, VMI,
- Verticom.
-
-
- D. Support of New Graphic Cards
- Contact card vendor for status of developing CADKEY graphic
- driver with CADKEY Graphic Device Toolkit. Vendors that have
- developed drivers certified by CADKEY are listed in the CONFIG
- program.
-
-
- IV. CADKEY 3.5 GRAPHIC DRIVER - GENERAL CONCEPTS
- A. Loading Resident Graphic Driver
- The graphic driver must be loaded before running the application
- program (e.g. CADKEY, SHADE, RENDER). This can be incorporated
- into the systems Autoexec.bat, or in a batch file.
-
- Example: To load the "IBM Personal Systems/2 VGA" graphic
- driver, CADKEY, and unload driver after exiting CADKEY;
- create a batch file (e.g. CK.BAT) with the following
- commands:
- IBMVGA
- CADKEY
- IBMVGA -r
-
-
- Page 5
-
-
- B. TSR (Terminal Stay Resident) Driver Installation
- The display driver is loaded though use of DOS interrupt
- vector (the default is interrupt 60H). Vaild interrupt
- vectors for CADKEY resident driver are: 60-65H.
-
- The resident driver will search for the next available
- vector if the current vector (default 60H) is already used.
-
- C. Force Loading / Alternate Interrupt Vector
- Usage: <driver> -f[xx].
-
- The display driver can be forced loaded by appending a
- " -Fxx" to the driver executable name. Where 'xx' is a
- interrupt vector 60-65 Hex. If [xx] is omitted the
- driver will be forced loaded at 60H. Example: to force
- load an IBM VGA driver at interrupt vector 65H, type
- "IBMVGA -f65".
-
- Note: If you experience problems loading the driver in
- your system, try force loading the driver at interrupt
- vectors 60H. Examples: "IBMVGA -f60".
-
-
- D. Remove Resident Driver from memory
- Usage: <driver> -r
-
- To remove the driver from memory append a " -r" parameter
- after the driver name. Example: to remove an IBM VGA driver
- from memory, type "IBMVGA -r".
-
- Note: Some drivers may use another parameter instead of '-r'
- to remove TSR driver from memory.
-
- Driver Remove Command
- ------------ --------------
- DGIS Ckdgis -x
- Metheus 1008 Remove
- Verticom V/H Remove
- TIGA comm driver Tigacd -u
-
- Note: Driver should not be removed from memory during
- program execution (e.g. during Dos Shell program).

- V. GRAPHIC DISPLAY HARDWARE
-
- 1. MONITORS
- A multi-frequency (or multi-scan) type monitor is recommended
- to display CADKEY application program generated by the graphics
- card. Multi-scan monitors automatically adjust to the graphics
- card horizontal and vertical scan frequency with little or no
- adjustments needed by the end-user.
-
- Select a monitor that is compatible with your display cards:
- horizontal/vertical scan rate, pixel resolution, signal input
- video type (mono, TTL, VGA, SVGA, analog, RGB).
-
- Monitors without multi-sync capability can be used, but they
- must be able to display the resolution chosen in the CONFIG
- program Graphic Device mode selection.
-
- 2. CABLING
- A. EGA cards. A standard multi-sync 9 pin to 9 pin TTL video
- cable is required to connect from display card to monitor.
-
- B. Super VGA cards. A 15 pin video cable is required to connect
- display card to monitor. You may be able to use your existing
- 9 pin cable if is attached to a 9 to 15 pin video adpater.
- A 15 pin cable connection is required to display 256 colors.
-
- C. IBM 8514/A cards. A true 8514/A video cable is required to
- connect an 8514/A display card to non-IBM monitors. This is
- needed for the monitor to inform the host driver of the
- correct display resolution and color of the card. Note: Some
- factory supplied video cables (e.g. NEC, Sony) will not work
- correctly with 8514/A video cards. Users should contact vendor
- to obtain a true 8514/A video cable. An 8514/A cable should
- have the following video signals connections:
-
- To: 8514/A card To: Multisync Monitor
- (DB15 pin-Male) (DB9 pin - Male)

-
-
- D. High Resolution cards. High Resolution cards generally
- connect to the monitor with RGB type cable supplied with
- display card. These cables attach to the monitors BNC
- connectors. Some cards may require a separate horizontal/
- vertical RGB cable connection attached to the monitor
- BNC connectors.
-
- E. Other cards. Consult graphic card Installation/User's
- Guide for recommended monitor/cabling requirements.
-
-
-
- 3. TROUBLESHOOTING
- A. Check if graphic card is installed properly.
- B. Check if cable is correctly connected to monitor and
- display card and securely attached.
- C. Verify that any hardware jumpers, switch settings are
- properly configured for your system.
- D. Verify that any software programs/utilities required for
- graphic card are properly configured for your system.
- E. Be sure both the monitor power cable and signal cables
- are firmly attached.
- F. Check the brightness and contrast controls on the monitor
- are turned up high enough.
- G. Adjust monitor display if image is offset from center with
- horizontal and vertical adjustments according to monitors
- instructions.
- H. Refer to recommended installation instructions in this guide.
- I. Refer to graphic card installation/users guide.
- J. Remove any suspected conflicting hardware in your system.
- (e.g. network cards, tape backup cards, etc...).
- K. Remove any suspected conflicting software in your system
- (TSR - Terminate Stay Resident programs loaded in your
- systems Autoexec.bat and device drivers in Config.sys).
- L. Run vendors diagnostic, test, demonstration programs to
- verify graphic display hardware is installed and operating
- correctly.

- compatibility.
- 2. It does not require AI in order to run. This driver by-passes
- AI entirely. (if it is loaded, the driver won't care).
- 3. The driver checks the board when it is first invoked for the
- configuration. At that time, the determination is made about
- what the resolution will be (640 x 480 or 1024 x 768), and the
- number of colors that can be displayed (16 or 256).
- 4. This driver requires a true 8514/A video cable attached to
- 8514/A monitors. Some factory supplied cables included with non-
- IBM 8514/A monitors will not work correctly with the 8514/A card.

- RGB type monitor is required for 1024x768 resolutions and above.
- Please consult card vendors manual for recommended monitors.
-
- Switch Settings:
- Please refer to TIGA compatible card user's manual.
-
- Installation:
- A. Driver Requirements.
- In general to run a TIGA compatible card:
- 1. Follow card vendors instructions to install TIGA graphics
- interface software to set the graphic card in TIGA mode.
- This should create a CKTIGA file with an ALM extension
- that is used to communicate to the TIGA driver.
- 2. Load the CADKEY TIGA resident driver "cktiga".
-
- Resident driver: CKTIGA.EXE, CKTIGA.RLM.
- Vendor files: Refer to card vendors manual for required
- TIGA files.
- Font files: Refer to card vendors manual.
-
- B. Configuration.
- 1. Load TIGA host driver.
- 2. Load CADKEY resident driver: "cktiga".
-
- Type "CKTIGA -r" to remove driver from memory.
-
- Operation:
- Assign the "TIGA compatible card" in the CONFIG program, as
- described in the Getting Started section of the User Reference Guide.
-
- Driver/Card Characteristics:
- Memory required for CADKEY resident driver: 13.6 Kbytes.
-
- General Notes:
- 1. TIGA should be installed in a directory, e.g. "C:\TIGA".
- 2. Set the PATH variable to append the TIGA directory:
- "PATH=C:\TIGA".
- 3. Set the environment variable TIGA. TIGA uses the environment
- variable TIGA to keep track of the location of TIGA system
- files, dynamic load modules, and the interrupt level. To
- set the environment variable with the following command:
-
- SET TIGA=-m<TIGA dir> -l<appl dir> -c<config dir> -i<0xNN>
-
- The environment variable recognizes these options:
- 1. -m<TIGA dir> : location of TIGA system files
-
- 2. -l<appl dir> : location of dynamic load modules created
- by a TIGA application driver.
-
- 3. -c<config dir> : Specifies the location of tiga.ini.
-
- 4. -i<0xNN> : Specifies the TIGA communication driver
- interrupt level. The default is 0x7F.
-
- Specify an alternate TIGA interrupt level if the
- default conflicts with your system.
-
- e.g.: "SET TIGA=-mC:\TIGA -lC:\TIGA -cC:\TIGA -i0x65"
-
- 4. The device driver will look for .RLM (Relocatable Object
- Module) so that it can create a .ALM (Absolute Load Module).
- This file contains all the graphic functions that is loaded
- to the GSP. Users installing new or updated TIGA files should
- delete any and all existing ALM file(s) and create a new file.
-
- Contact Texas Instruments for a list of supported TIGA cards.
