- #drive&dir
- Please select the drive and directory into which MicroStation will be
- installed.
-
- MicroStation can be installed onto any drive and can be put into
- any directory. However, if you wish to maintain multiple versions of
- MicroStation, it is recommended that you use a different directory
- from any previous installations of MicroStation.
- #
- #cleanup
- There has been a previous installation of MicroStation for the directory
- chosen. Since new versions of MicroStation frequently have a different set
- of files, it is advisable to delete the files from your previous
- installation.
-
- The install program will DELETE ANY DELIVERED FILES in MicroStation
- directories you upgrade. Therefore, if you have created any new files in
- any of the MicroStation directories, you should first save them elsewhere
- or chance losing them forever!
-
- If you wish to exit and save your files press Ctrl-Z now. Otherwise
- select Y to remove all files before upgrading or N to only upgrade new
- files.
- #
- #MSSYSTEM
-
- The main MicroStation system files include the basic files needed to run
- MicroStation. These include several MicroStation Development Language (MDL)
- applications. Also included are several cell libraries, utilities,
- configuration files, and the sample files used in the lessons found in the
- user's quide.
- #
- #HELP
-
- The On-line help files contain extensive information on many aspects of
- MicroStation. Other products based on MicroStation may make use of the
- help system. The help is optional but is recommended when learning how
- to use MicroStation.
- #
- #DOCS
-
- The Documentation files contain information about fixes, enhancments and
- changes to the current release of MicroStation.
- #
- #UTILS
-
- There are several utilities available for managing files outside of
- MicroStation. This option will install these utilities. Some utilities
- include, EDG, The Font Librarian, and the Hidden Line export utility.
- #
- #DBASE
-
- The database files and related design files are useful for learning how to
- use dBase with MicroStation.
- #
- #ORACLE
-
- The sample Oracle database files and related design files are useful for
- learning how to use Oracle with MicroStation.
- #
- #PATTERN
-
- The Patterning Cell Libraries contain the sample cells to "pattern"
- either closed areas (Area Patterning) or along a linear path (Linear
- Patterning).
-
- MicroStation has the built-in capability to fill closed areas with
- crosshatch lines. If this capability is sufficient, you do not need to
- install the sample patterning cells.
- #
- #DXF
-
- This will install the tools required to use DXF files with MicroStation.
- The capability to translate IGDS files to DXF, and DXF files to IGDS is
- provided.
- #
- #MENUS
-
- Several tablet, or paper, menus are available with MicroStation. These
- allow for pre-made menus for use with a digitizing tablet. If you plan
- to use a digitizer tablet, you may wish to load these menus.
- #
- #SEED
-
- Seed files are the basis for new MicroStation Design Files. These are
- design files with preset characteristics for given work environments.
- These include, but are not limited to, Mapping, Architecture, and GIS.
- #
- #UCM
-
- Several User Commands are provided for use with MicroStation. These
- files allow for a type of MACRO language. There are other more
- advanced and more powerfull tools such as MicroCSL and the
- MicroStation Development Language. Some of the user commands may
- be usefull for current needs.
- #
- #FLIB
-
- MicroStation comes with a Font Librarian Utility and many font cell lib-
- raries which allow creation of custom fonts.
- #
- #EXAMPLES
-
- MicroStation comes with many sample design files and cell libraries that
- are useful for learning how to use MicroStation.
- #
- #TUTORIAL
-
- MicroStation provides several tutorials in the User's Guide. This option
- will install the necessary files used during the tutorials.
- #
- #MDL
-
- The MicroStation Development Language (MDL) files consist of compilers,
- linkers, librarians, and other files needed for development of MDL
- applications for use with MicroStation.
- #
- #MDLEXMPL
-
- These are complete examples, with source, of MDL applications. Each is
- intended to help explain how to write MDL programs. Several examples are
- quite useful for everyday tasks in MicroStation.
- #
- #USCONFIG
- Now that you have installed the MicroStation files onto your system you
- will need to run the configuration program, USCONFIG, to specify the
- hardware configuration you are using.
-
- You should also make sure that your CONFIG.SYS file in your root directory
- has the parameters
-
- FILES=20
- BUFFERS=15
-
- NOTE: These values are minimal. You may set them higher provided sufficient
- memory is available.
-
- Also, if you are using an Expanded Memory Manager that is not VCPI
- (Virtual Control Program Interface) compatible, MicroStation will not
- utilize memory allocated to that Memory Manager.
