  1. README for MicroStation PC Version 4.0.3

  3.   For MicroStation installation and configuration procedures, see 
  4.   Chapter 1 ("Setting Up") in the User's Guide. A "quick setup" 
  5.   procedure is on page U1-3 of that chapter. For information about
  6.   issues specific to this version, see the release notes.
  7.  
  8.   Several documentation files are provided with MicroStation. 
  9.   After you install the software, please read the documentation 
  10.   files of interest to you. You can use any text editor to read 
  11.   these ASCII files, or you can read them in MicroStation. To do 
  12.   the latter, choose "Text" from the Display sub-menu of the 
  13.   pull-down File menu, as described in Chapter 1 of the Reference Guide.

  15. The following documentation files are installed in MicroStation's 
  16.   "DOCS" directory (typically "C:\USTATION\DOCS"):
  17.   
  18.   * "DOCNOTES.TXT"--This file contains descriptions of software 
  19.   enhancements that were made after the MicroStation User's Guide, 
  20.   Reference Guide, and Customization Guide went to print. Many of these
  21.   enhancements were in response to the suggestions of Beta testers. 
  22.   Documentation errata are also in this file. New users should 
  23.   particularly note the changes for User's Guide chapter 3 (p. U3-#) 
  24.   before starting the lessons in that chapter.

  26.   * "FIXES.TXT"--This file contains information about problems in 
  27.   previous versions of MicroStation that are fixed in this version.
  28.  
  29.   * "CERTNOTE.TXT"--This file contains information about hardware 
  30.   and software dependencies, product delivery and use, and known 
  31.   problems. All users are encouraged to read the certification notice. In 
  32.   particular, production managers should use the information in the 
  33.   notice to help determine whether the revised software will increase 
  34.   or decrease productivity according to the known problems described
  35.   there.

  37. The following documentation file is installed in MicroStation's MDL
  38.   directory (typically "C:\USTATION\MDL"):
  39.   
  40.   * "README.MDL"--This file contains numerous changes for the MDL 
  41.   Manual. MDL is a new application development facility for 
  42.   MicroStation. There is an introduction to MDL in Chapter 4 of the 
  43.   Customization Guide.
