- **** \ARCA\SCREEN.DRV file for ARC+ VER. 6.3 (Taiwan) ****
-
- This SCREEN.DRV file includes all available screen configurations
- supplied with the current version of ARC+. It is displayed as the
- default list. For additional screen configurations the user will
- enter the option 'MORE DRIVERS' displayed at the end of the list.
- Then the system will display the SCREEN.DRV from the Drivers Diskette.
-
- The lines that will be used in the configuration process start with
- an arrow '->', followed by 9 parameters separated by ';' and some spaces.
-
- The parameters are:
-
- 1. System's name -
- Name of the graphic board
-
- 2. Definition file name -
- DEFINE.xxx is the part of the system file \ARCA\DEFINE.TBL that is
- dependent on the graphic board features: no. of colors, text size and
- the appearance of the screen in ARC+: RGB of the 16 used colors 0-15,
- frames and text color, default increments for picking points.
- The other part of DEFINE.TBL, which is dependent on the monitor used
- for the screen configuration, is defined in the monitor definition files:
- *.MON, listed in MONITOR.DRV. These files include the defined size of the
- screen and the layout of the frames of the ARC+ screen.
- Please note!
- The system will automatically correct the TEXT CELL WIDTH and the 'Y' size
- of the screen (in units and in meters), after the screen configuration is
- completed, according to the size supported by the graphic board.

- 3. Device driver -
- The graphic driver of the system or the name of the file containing the
- list of the drivers (preceded with '@').

- 4. Mode index -
- 0- Single screen (predefined)
- 1- Single screen with two pages (predefined)
- 2- Dual screen (predefined)
- 3- User defined single or dual configuration (not predefined, the user
- will be prompted to select one of the above options during the
- configuration.

- 5. Loading batch -
- The name of the batch files which will load and unload the screen and
- Display List drivers. [name].IN will be copied to
- LOADSCRN.BAT and [name].OUT will be copied to UNLOADSC.BAT in
- C:\ARCASYS.

- 6. Remark no. -
- The code of the messages written at the end of this file, marked by: ~ ~
- to be displayed on the screen during the configuration. Used for
- additional configuration instructions to the user.

- 7. Drivers diskette no. -
- Screen Drivers Diskette where the files are copied from:
- 0 - only one Screen Drivers Diskette exists
- 1 - Screen Drivers diskette #1
- 2 - Screen Drivers diskette #2

- 8. Font name -
- The name of the graphic font file defined for the screen driver.
- - 'none' if the default font is used
- - [any name] will be copied to C:\ARCASYS\ARCFONT.FNT and will be
- used in ARC+ for the text displayed in the non-graphic zone of
- the screen: pop menus, sidebar menus, input and prompt lines,
- status line, etc...

- 9. Parameter /s= -
- A special parameter for the SUPER VGA mode. Only for the graphic
- boards used as SUPER VGA.

- Additional Configuration Information

- ~1~Please note: The line "[path]HDILOAD" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
- file. Correspondingly, the file HDILOAD.EXE must be copied or installed
- from the diskette supplied with the 8514 graphic board.;

- ~2~Please note: The SET file generated using the program INTRO supplied
- with the ARTIST graphic board, must be copied to C:\ARCASYS\ARTIST10.SET.;
-
- ~3~Please note: The SET file generated using the program INTRO supplied
- with the XJS graphic board, must be copied to C:\ARCASYS\ARTXJS.SET.
- Note: In case of problems with the new XJS boards, a preliminary initialization
- might be needed, e.g. execute: ARTINIT ARTXJS.SET in the XJS directory, after
- every boot.;

- ~4~Please note: Make sure you follow the TIGA installation instructions for
- your system. The following lines should be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
- SET TIGAPATH=c:\tiga
- SET TIGA=-m%TIGAPATH% -l%TIGAPATH% -i0x60
- %TIGAPATH%\tigacd
- Note: %TIGAPATH% is the path where you have installed your TIGA drivers .;

- ~5~Please note: The line "DEVICE=\ARCASYS\IMDOS.SYS" must appear in the
- CONFIG.SYS file. Correspondingly, the file IMDOS.SYS must be copied manually
- from the diskette supplied with the graphics board.;

- ~6~Please note: The lines "\ARCASYS\PGDOWNL \ARCASYS\LS.OUT", "\ARCASYS\LSFLUSH"
- and "\ARCASYS\LSCOLD" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. As well, the
- files PGDOWNL.EXE, LSFLUSH.EXE, LSCOLD.EXE and LS.OUT must be copied from the
- drivers diskette obtained from the Matrox supplier, into directory C:\ARCASYS.;

- ~7~Please note: The line "set vga=800,600,xxh" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
- file. xx is the value of the video BIOS mode setting for the card you are
- using, which may be found in the user guide of the high resolution VGA card.;

- ~8~Please note: The line "DEVICE=C:[path]\VMDOS.SYS /D=0E00" must appear
- in the CONFIG.SYS file. The lines "C:[path]\fwload c:[path]\LCT" and
- "C:[path]\fwload C:[path]\pgl" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. As well
- the files VMDOS.SYS, LCT.OUT, PGL.OUT and FWLOAD.EXE must be copied from the
- drivers diskette obtained from the Cobra supplier, into directory C:\ARCASYS.;

- ~9~Please note: The line "DEVICE=C:\ARCASYS\VMDOS.SYS /D=1000" must appear
- in the file CONFIG.SYS. The lines "C:\ARCASYS\FWLOAD C:\ARCASYS\XINIT /t=10"
- and "C:\ARCASYS\FWLOAD C:\ARCASYS\PGL" must appear in the file AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- The files : VMDOS.SYS, FWLOAD.EXE, XINIT.OUT, PGL.OUT must be copied from
- the diskette supplied with the graphic board into the directory C:\ARCASYS.;

- ~10~Note: Check that "SET GDC=\SPEA\GDC" appears in AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- After installing the SPEA board, please install the ARC+ FGA files from the
- Screen Drivers Diskette No.1, by typing: [source]:\arcpinst [source:]
- Please switch off your computer after configuration of this board (select
- option: "Exit system to make changes"). - For problems, please contact:

- After executing the SPEA installation instructions, copy the files from the
- SPEA diskette for ARC+ into \SPEA\GDC. Please switch off your computer after
- the configuration of this board (select option: "Exit system to make changes").

- Note: %DGIS% is the path where you have installed your DGIS drivers .;

- ~13~Please note: This mode does not work on the TRIDENT 8800, it works
- only on the TRIDENT 8900.;

- ~14~Please note: After loading this driver, if there is not enough free memory
- in ARC+ (140K in shell), edit C:\ARCASYS\LOADSCRN.BAT, to load the program
- DMRES in high memory, e.g. with QEMM: '[path]\loadhi dmres'.
- This PIXELWORKS driver is set to work with the default options:
- /PWINT=10-interrupt level, /PWIO=330-i/o port, /PWDMA=6-dma channel
- -To be changed according to the settings on the board.;

- ~15~Before you start working with the 1280x1024 Enhanced WhirlWIN driver,
- you must first install the WhirlWIN AI, using the diskette supplied by
- PIXELWORKS with the board.;
