  1. **** \ARCA\SCREEN.DRV file for ARC+ VER. 6.3 (Taiwan) ****
  2.  
  3.    This SCREEN.DRV file includes all available screen configurations
  4.    supplied with the current version of ARC+. It is displayed as the
  5.    default list. For additional screen configurations the user will
  6.    enter the option 'MORE DRIVERS' displayed at the end of the list.
  7.    Then the system will display the SCREEN.DRV from the Drivers Diskette.
  8.  
  9.    The lines that will be used in the configuration process start with
  10.    an arrow '->', followed by 9 parameters separated by ';' and some spaces.
  11.  
  12.    The parameters are:
  13.  
  14. 1. System's name -
  15.    Name of the graphic board
  16.  
  17. 2. Definition file name -
  18.    DEFINE.xxx is the part of the system file \ARCA\DEFINE.TBL that is
  19.    dependent on the graphic board features: no. of colors, text size and
  20.    the appearance of the screen in ARC+: RGB of the 16 used colors 0-15,
  21.    frames and text color, default increments for picking points.
  22.    The other part of DEFINE.TBL, which is dependent on the monitor used
  23.    for the screen configuration, is defined in the monitor definition files:
  24.    *.MON, listed in MONITOR.DRV. These files include the defined size of the
  25.    screen and the layout of the frames of the ARC+ screen.
  26.    Please note!
  27.    The system will automatically correct the TEXT CELL WIDTH and the 'Y' size
  28.    of the screen (in units and in meters), after the screen configuration is
  29.    completed, according to the size supported by the graphic board.

  31. 3. Device driver -
  32.    The graphic driver of the system or the name of the file containing the
  33.    list of the drivers (preceded with '@').
  34.  
  35. 4. Mode index -
  36.    0- Single screen (predefined)
  37.    1- Single screen with two pages (predefined)
  38.    2- Dual screen (predefined)
  39.    3- User defined single or dual configuration (not predefined, the user
  40.       will be prompted to select one of the above options during the
  41.       configuration.

  43. 5. Loading batch -
  44.    The name of the batch files which will load and unload the screen and
  45.    Display List drivers. [name].IN will be copied to
  46.    LOADSCRN.BAT and [name].OUT will be copied to UNLOADSC.BAT in
  47.    C:\ARCASYS.
  48.  
  49. 6. Remark no. -
  50.    The code of the messages written at the end of this file, marked by: ~ ~
  51.    to be displayed on the screen during the configuration. Used for
  52.    additional configuration instructions to the user.

  54. 7. Drivers diskette no. -
  55.    Screen Drivers Diskette where the files are copied from:
  56.    0 - only one Screen Drivers Diskette exists
  57.    1 - Screen Drivers diskette #1
  58.    2 - Screen Drivers diskette #2
  59.  
  60. 8. Font name -
  61.    The name of the graphic font file defined for the screen driver.
  62.    - 'none' if the default font is used
  63.    - [any name] will be copied to C:\ARCASYS\ARCFONT.FNT and will be
  64.      used in ARC+ for the text displayed in the non-graphic zone of
  65.      the screen: pop menus, sidebar menus, input and prompt lines,
  66.      status line, etc...

  68. 9. Parameter /s=  -
  69.    A special parameter for the SUPER VGA mode. Only for the graphic
  70.    boards used as SUPER VGA.

  103. Additional Configuration Information
  104. ------------------------------------

  106. ~1~Please note: The line "[path]HDILOAD" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
  107. file. Correspondingly, the file HDILOAD.EXE must be copied or installed
  108. from the diskette supplied with the 8514 graphic board.;
  109.  
  110. ~2~Please note: The SET file generated using the program INTRO supplied
  111. with the ARTIST graphic board, must be copied to  C:\ARCASYS\ARTIST10.SET.;
  112.  
  113. ~3~Please note: The SET file generated using the program INTRO supplied
  114. with the XJS graphic board, must be copied to  C:\ARCASYS\ARTXJS.SET.
  115. Note: In case of problems with the new XJS boards, a preliminary initialization
  116. might be needed, e.g. execute: ARTINIT ARTXJS.SET in the XJS directory, after
  117. every boot.;
  118.  
  119. ~4~Please note: Make sure you follow the TIGA installation instructions for
  120. your system. The following lines should be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  121. SET TIGAPATH=c:\tiga
  122. SET TIGA=-m%TIGAPATH% -l%TIGAPATH% -i0x60
  123. %TIGAPATH%\tigacd
  124. Note: %TIGAPATH% is the path where you have installed your TIGA drivers .;
  125.  
  126. ~5~Please note: The line "DEVICE=\ARCASYS\IMDOS.SYS" must appear in the
  127. CONFIG.SYS file. Correspondingly, the file IMDOS.SYS must be copied manually
  128. from the diskette supplied with the graphics board.;
  129.  
  130. ~6~Please note: The lines "\ARCASYS\PGDOWNL \ARCASYS\LS.OUT", "\ARCASYS\LSFLUSH"
  131. and "\ARCASYS\LSCOLD" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. As well, the
  132. files PGDOWNL.EXE, LSFLUSH.EXE, LSCOLD.EXE and LS.OUT must be copied from the
  133. drivers diskette obtained from the Matrox supplier, into directory C:\ARCASYS.;
  134.  
  135. ~7~Please note: The line "set vga=800,600,xxh" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
  136. file. xx is the value of the video BIOS mode setting for the card you are
  137. using, which may be found in the user guide of the high resolution VGA card.;
  138.  
  139. ~8~Please note: The line "DEVICE=C:[path]\VMDOS.SYS /D=0E00" must appear
  140. in the CONFIG.SYS file. The lines "C:[path]\fwload c:[path]\LCT" and
  141. "C:[path]\fwload C:[path]\pgl" must appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. As well
  142. the files VMDOS.SYS, LCT.OUT, PGL.OUT and FWLOAD.EXE must be copied from the
  143. drivers diskette obtained from the Cobra supplier, into directory C:\ARCASYS.;
  144.  
  145. ~9~Please note: The line "DEVICE=C:\ARCASYS\VMDOS.SYS /D=1000" must appear
  146. in the file CONFIG.SYS. The lines "C:\ARCASYS\FWLOAD C:\ARCASYS\XINIT /t=10"
  147. and "C:\ARCASYS\FWLOAD C:\ARCASYS\PGL" must appear in the file AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  148. The files : VMDOS.SYS, FWLOAD.EXE, XINIT.OUT, PGL.OUT must be copied from
  149. the diskette supplied with the graphic board into the directory C:\ARCASYS.;
  150.  
  151. ~10~Note: Check that "SET GDC=\SPEA\GDC" appears in AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  152. After installing the SPEA board, please install the ARC+ FGA files from the
  153. Screen Drivers Diskette No.1, by typing:   [source]:\arcpinst  [source:]
  154. Please switch off your computer after configuration of this board (select
  155. option: "Exit system to make changes").  - For problems, please contact:

  158. ~11~Note: Check that "SET GDC=\SPEA\GDC" appears in AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  159. After executing the SPEA installation instructions, copy the files from the
  160. SPEA diskette for ARC+ into \SPEA\GDC. Please switch off your computer after
  161. the configuration of this board (select option: "Exit system to make changes").

  165. ~12~Please note: Make sure you follow the DGIS installation instructions for
  166. your system. The following lines should be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  167. SET DGIS=c:\dgis
  168. %DGIS%\dgis -c%DGIS%\[configuration file] -r%DGIS%\dgis.out .
  169. Note: %DGIS% is the path where you have installed your DGIS drivers .;
  170.  
  171. ~13~Please note: This mode does not work on the TRIDENT 8800, it works
  172. only on the TRIDENT 8900.;
  173.  
  174. ~14~Please note: After loading this driver, if there is not enough free memory
  175. in ARC+ (140K in shell), edit C:\ARCASYS\LOADSCRN.BAT, to load the program
  176. DMRES in high memory, e.g. with QEMM: '[path]\loadhi dmres'.
  177. This PIXELWORKS driver is set to work with the default options:
  178. /PWINT=10-interrupt level, /PWIO=330-i/o port, /PWDMA=6-dma channel
  179. -To be changed according to the settings on the board.;
  180.  
  181. ~15~Before you start working with the 1280x1024 Enhanced WhirlWIN driver,
  182. you must first install the WhirlWIN AI, using the diskette supplied by
  183. PIXELWORKS with the board.;
  184.
