  3. Estimates if a solid operation is possible according to disk free space.

  5.         1. (CHAR) disk name to check (a,b,c,d,e,f, etc.)
  6.      if in geometric module (G):
  7.         2. (Y/N) possibility to execute: y-solid, n-solid & surfaces
  8.         3. (Y/N) solid display: y-wire/hidd./dash, n-no display
  9. if option `y' is selected in prompt 2, depending which display was selected in
  10. prompt 3, the resulting message will be either:
  11. solid is possible, the process will take app. NNNNNNN bytes
  12. or:
  13. solid is NOT possible, you need at least NNNNNNN bytes available
  14. if option `n' is selected in prompt 2, depending which display is selected in
  15. prompt 3, the resulting message will be either:
  16. solid & surf. is possible, the process will take app. NNNNNNN bytes
  17. or:
  18. solid & surf. is NOT possible, you need at least NNNNNNN bytes available
  19. if in solid module (S), there are no other prompts  the system simply checks
  20. the possibility of a surface model and the resulting message will be either:
  21. surfaces is possible, the process will take app. NNNNNNN bytes
  22. or:
  23. surfaces is NOT possible, you need at least NNNNNNN bytes available
  24. If you press <ENTER> after a resulting message, the following message will be
  25. displayed:
  26. you will still have NNNNNNN bytes available on your disk

  28. Description:
  29. This command helps you to estimate the availability of disk space prior to
  30. producing a solid model, or a solid and surfaces model.
  31. Enter the letter of the disk on which you intend to produce your solid model.
  32. If you are in the geometric module, the system asks you if you are creating
  33. a solid model only, or solid and surfaces models. You may create and display
  34. the model in a number of modes: wire frame, hidden lines removal, or hidden
  35. lines displayed as dashed lines (option `y'), or create the model with no
  36. intention of displaying it (option `n'). Each case takes up a different amount
  37. of disk space. In both the case of a solid or solid and surface model, you
  38. must define the type of display you intend for your solid model.
  39. If you are in the solid module, the only estimation you may need is for
  40. producing a surfaces model and the system does not need any parameters.

  42. The system takes into consideration all the components of your model,
  43. including placed objects and all their hierarchies, when doing the estimation
  44. and adds a factor as a safety margin. It then informs you if the operation is
  45. possible or not, and how much disk space will be required for it. If the
  46. message is positive, you are informed of how much disk space will be left
  47. after the required operation.
