- Description
- This command sets a display mode while in the solid module. The modes are: w
- wire frame, h hidden lines removal, a dashed hidden lines, s colored surfaces,
- d shaded surfaces and o off.
-
- Selecting `w', `h', `a', `s' or `d' causes the model to be redrawn in the
- selected display mode following every command that manipulates the eye or
- target positions, such as \walk, \eye, \axo, etc.
-
- If you select surfaces (`s') or shadows (`d'), you are asked if you want a
- full screen display. If you reply `y' to a full screen display, you are asked
- for a file name of 3 characters to which the system adds -n, n being a number
- from 1-999, for each picture taken using the `p' key to capture the model from
- the screen. The screen will be redrawn without the menus and command lines.
- (The character `w' appears in the lower-right of the screen while the system
- is working.) In order to reactivate the menus, press any key.
-
- You are then prompted to select the type of presentation from the following
- options (`c', `h', or `s').
-
- c the surface polygons are filled with the Color of its lines (edges).
- h The surfaces model is displayed with Hidden lines removed.
- s Each polygon appears with a different intensity of Shade related to its
- angle to the sun (depending on your monitor).
-
- If you select the last option, `s,' you will be asked to specify the
- graduation of the shading by entering a number between 4 and 12. The default
- is 7.
-
- For all the options, if wire entities exist in the original model, you will be
- asked if you wish to display them. This process may take some time, depending
- on the quantity of such entities.
-
- If you have selected shadows (`d') in prompt1 you will be asked to enter the
- height of the ground level in relation to the coordinate origin - 0 0 0; the
- default is 0. Select a point indicating the direction of the sun relative to
- the origin point (0 0 0). The default is the current location. If you select
- option, `s,' in prompt 4, you will be asked to specify the shading, `f' for
- full or `g' on the ground only. The default is `f'.
-
- If `o' (off) is selected, you may implement a series of manipulate commands
- without the screen being redrawn. When you have completed the manipulation
- you may view the result by returning to this command and activating one of the
- other (`w', `h', `a', `s' or `d') display options.
-
- The values that you have specified for the sight cone, surfaces option,
- graduation of shade, sun location and height of ground level, will all be
- retained by the system as default values throughout the work session or until
- new values are specified. You may change the sight cone value or the sun
- location by using the \pcone and \sunpt commands respectively.
-
- NOTE: When using options `s' or `d' for the first time on the current model,
- or if the solid model has not been previously saved, the system processing may
- take some time, depending on the complexity of the model.
