  5. This file gives information regarding changes to the DrawPerfect Program
  6. and packaging.  Please read all information.
  7.  
  8.  
  9. 1)  DRAWPERFECT PROGRAM
  10.  
  11.      MULTINATIONAL CHARACTERS IN TEXT MODE
  12.           The multinational character set contains the characters to
  13.           produce text for European countries.  These characters are
  14.           inserted with the Compose feature while in the text mode. 
  15.           DrawPerfect can produce the first 90 characters of Character Set
  16.           1 (Multinational 1) with each of the following fonts:
  17.  
  18.           Broadway         Century Schoolbook     Courier
  19.           Cooper Black     Eurostile              Helvetica
  20.           Roman
  21.  
  22.           If you insert a multinational character with a base font other
  23.           than those listed above, the character will be drawn with one of
  24.           the following fonts:  Courier, Helvetica, or Roman.  DrawPerfect
  25.           will use the font that most closely resembles the current base
  26.           font.

  29.      DRAWPERFECT NETWORK INSTALLATION
  30.           For a network installation of DrawPerfect, do NOT select a
  31.           graphics driver during the installation process.  If you select a
  32.           graphics driver, you will not be able to select drivers for the
  33.           monitors of the individual stations, unless you use the Auto
  34.           Select startup options (see below).

  36.           For network installations of DrawPerfect, where the program
  37.           directory is specified with read-only access, make sure to define
  38.           a default directory for drawing files (Setup, Location of Files)
  39.           on each station running DrawPerfect.  This redirects the
  40.           program's overflow files to the local drives, rather than
  41.           attempting to create the files on the DrawPerfect network
  42.           directory.

  45.      AUTO SELECT DISPLAY
  46.           The /V startup option allows you to automatically select the
  47.           display driver, as you start the program. 
  48.  
  49.           This helps you start the program when DrawPerfect is installed on
  50.           a network, or when the wrong display driver was selected the last
  51.           time the program was running.  Start DrawPerfect by typing one of
  52.           the following options from the DOS prompt:

  58.                Prompts you to select a display type before you start the
  59.                program.
  60.  
  61.                dr/v=auto
  62.                Automatically selects the correct display type.  This is
  63.                useful for starting DrawPerfect on each station of a
  64.                network.

  66.                dr/v=genius 1,1
  67.                Selects the correct display type for Genius monitors.

  70.      MACROS
  71.           The following macros have been added for use with DrawPerfect:
  72.  
  73.           ALT-SHIFT-S (Shell macro).  This macro spell-checks the text of a
  74.           selected text box or line.  WordPerfect must be installed on the
  75.           shell in order for this to work.  Text is copied to the clipboard
  76.           and spell-checked in WordPerfect.
  77.  
  78.           ALT-M (DrawPerfect MACROS keyboard).  Modifies multiple text
  79.           items.  You need to select the text objects that you want to
  80.           modify.  Then, press ALT-M.  This will allow you to change the
  81.           attributes of all selected text objects.  For example, you can
  82.           change all the text to red, or change the font from Helvetica 10
  83.           point to WP Roman 12 point.

  85.           ALT-H (DrawPerfect MACROS keyboard).  This creates a "Huge"
  86.           printout of the currently displayed drawing.  Pages are printed
  87.           with the selected graphics quality, then may be taped together to
  88.           create a large printed drawing.

  91.      PRESENTATION
  92.           A new advance option, called "Blocks," is available for slide
  93.           presentations.  This advances to the next slide by filling the
  94.           screen with medium-sized squares.
  95.  
  96.           You can now retrieve a presentation file into an existing list. 
  97.           This allows you to compile two or more presentation files to
  98.           create one presentation.  Select the retrieve option from the
  99.           Presentation menu, and enter the file name of the presentation
  100.           you want to add to the existing list.

  102.           A new video resource file (VRS) has been added that provides a
  103.           two-page graphics mode for display cards that emulate EGA mode,
  104.           640x350 resolution, with at least 256K of memory.

  106.           This driver will speed up the display of drawings during a
  107.

  111.           presentation, and provides smoother transitions between slides. 
  112.           Select the EGA 640x350 (PRESENTATIONS) driver from the Graphic
  113.           Display Type option on the Setup Display menu.  If you select
  114.           this driver and the display card does not have 256K of memory,
  115.           the standard EGA driver is selected instead.
  116.  
  117.           The PgUp/PgDn keys will advance you to the next/previous slide
  118.           before the image is completely drawn.  This is useful if you want
  119.           to skip over some slides.  With the EGA PRESENTATIONS driver, the
  120.           next slide will not display until it is drawn in the buffer (this
  121.           could take a few seconds).

  124.      EXPORT TO SCODL FORMAT
  125.           On page 333, of the DrawPerfect manual, the phone number for
  126.           Matrix Instruments Inc. is incorrect.  The correct phone number
  127.           is:  (914) 365-0190.

  130.      EXPORT WORDPERFECT TEXT
  131.           When editing text in a text line or window, you can save the text
  132.           to a WordPerfect file by pressing F10, then entering a name for
  133.           the file.

  136.      SCATTER GRAPHS
  137.           On page 255 of the DrawPerfect manual, there is an error
  138.           regarding Scatter graphs.  You are told to switch to the Graph
  139.           Options screen and assign a row of data to the X-axis.  This is
  140.           not necessary.  When you select the Scatter chart type, you do
  141.           not need to manually assign a row to the X-axis, as this is
  142.           automatically done for you.  The first row of data is assigned to
  143.           the X-axis and the second row is assigned to the Y-axis.

  146.      TIMED BACKUP
  147.           By default, this option is set to "Yes", meaning that your
  148.           drawing files will be automatically backed-up at a timed
  149.           interval.  If you do not want timed backup, or if you want to
  150.           change the interval, display the Setup menu, select Environment
  151.           from the menu, and choose Backup Options.

  164.      DRAWING TEMPLATES
  165.           Included with the drawing templates is a graph description file
  166.           called MONO-BAR.GDF.  This graph description file converts all
  167.           colors in the graph to monochrome patterns, which produce a
  168.           clearer image on black and white (non-color) printers.  Simply
  169.           retrieve this file while at the Graph Display screen, and the new
  170.           settings are applied to the current graph.  The description is
  171.           defined as a bar chart, but you can easily change the type from
  172.           the Graph Data Options screen.

  175.      GSS DRIVERS DISK
  176.           A plotters disk containing the most common GSS drivers is
  177.           included in the package.  The GSS Output Driver is also located
  178.           on the GSS Drivers Disk.  
  179.  
  180.           If a driver for your printer or plotter is not included on the
  181.           DrawPerfect GSS Driver diskette, you can order the necessary disk
  182.           at no additional charge by calling 1-800-222-9409 or writing to
  183.           the following address (IMPORTANT: Include your return address
  184.           along with the name of your printer or plotter).
