- VTEST.EXE, a diagnostic program
-
- VTEST.EXE is a diagnostic program for your video display adapter system
- (graphics card and video BIOS). It uses the same methods to determine
- available Video modes as PC Animate Plus does. Use this small program
- to test how changes to your video system affect PC Animate Plus (without
- having to run PCA.EXE).
-
- Some early video BIOSes contain bugs. These bugs can crash PC Animate
- Plus during startup. If PC Animate Plus does not run on your system,
- run VTEST to determine if the problem lies in your video BIOS. If
- the video BIOS is at fault, contact your graphics card company. Usually
- they have an upgraded BIOS chip or a software BIOS which fixes the bugs.
- Often the software BIOS is also available on CompuServe, or other BBSes.
- If a fix is not available, a generic VESA software BIOS for the chipset
- on your graphics card may do the trick. They are also available from
- CompuServe and other BBSes

-
- Using VTEST.EXE
-
- VTEST.EXE can be run in either of two modes, normal or verbose. When
- run in the normal mode, VTEST lists the available Video modes PC Animate
- Plus can use.
-
- When VTEST.EXE is run in the verbose mode, it lists the steps and
- results for all the tests it makes on your video hardware. The verbose
- mode can also report specific Video mode problems.
-
- Usage: To use VTEST.EXE in normal mode, just run it:
-
- vtest
-
- To use VTEST.EXE in verbose mode, run it with the -v option:
-
- vtest -v
-
-
- End of file.
