- GENERAL NOTES:
-
-
- - There is an additional self-extracting archive file
- (IMAGES.EXE) that's not mentioned in the Installation
- section of the docs. It contains two flics that demonstrate
- how the fractal spiral structure can use an animated .3DS
- file instead of its default diamonds, spheres, or stars.
- Plus, the second example demonstrates morphing between a
- spiral and a cylinder.
-
- - If you've run out of USER-PROG statements in your 3DS.SET
- file, you should take out BOX.PXP. If you need more slots
- than that, you can make multiple 3DS.SET files for different
- sets of PXP's. (Rest assured that 3DSr3 will have a PXP
- loader in it that doesn't require USER-PROG statements.)
-
- - TEXTURE COORDINATES FOR THE "STRUCTURES": It's not
- mentioned in the documentation, but the fractal structures
- have pre-assigned mapping (UV) coordinates (just like the
- rest of the trees, shrubs, and flowers do). The UV
- coordinates for the 2D Grids and 3D Grid (Hilbert Curve) are
- set up so that each link is one "tile" of the map. All
- you've got to do is apply a material that includes a
- texture, opacity, or bump map -- do not reassign mapping
- coordinates.
-
- - If you're using 3DSr2 version 2.0 instead of the recommended
- version 2.01 (see page 7 of the documentation for more
- details). Note that with version 2.0, some of the more-
- complex models may take a tremendous amount of time to
- produce. For example, a model that might take 1 minute to
- build with version 2.01 may take 15-30 MINUTES to create in
- version 2.0. Please get the 2.01 update.
-
- - Note that all the Silicon Garden defaults get dynamically
- updated to reflect your last use.
-
- - Follow the installation instructions on pages 8-10 of the
- documentation carefully. Since the subdirectory structure
- for Silicon Garden needs to be set up in a certain way in
- order to work, here's an overview/synopsis of which files go
- into which subdirectories. (Note that you must run the self-
- extracting .EXE archive files in order to extract the
- appropriate Silicon Garden files.)
-
-
- /3DS-|--/PROCESS (Put PROCESSI.EXE or PROCESSW.EXE here.)
- |--/MATLIBS (Put MATLIBS.EXE here.)
- |- /PMAPS (Make this subdirectory for all the bitmaps,
- including PMAPS.EXE from Disk 1 and all the
- gif files on Disk 2.)
- |- /PLANTS (Make this subdirectory and put PLANTS.EXE
- here. If this subdirectory isn't spelled
- correctly, or not inside your /3DS
- subdirectory, Silicon Garden will not run.)
- |- /IMAGES (Contains two flics for your /IMAGES
- subdirectory.)
