- If you are installing Ansel with a ScanMan Plus scanner, or you are upgrading
- from Ansel 1.0 to Ansel 1.1, you will need to use the latest scanner driver,
- HHSCAND.SYS 2.01. This driver is included on the Ansel 1.1 diskettes. This
- does not apply to Intel SatisFAXtion boards.
-
- If you have:
-
- SCANMATE version 1.2, 1.3, or 2.0
- Simply replace the scanner driver HHSCAND.SYS with the version on the
- Ansel diskettes. After you copy over the new version of the driver,
- reboot the system.
-
- SCANWARE version 1.0 or 1.1
- The older versions of the scanner software did not supply a scanner
- driver. You will need to copy the file HHSCAND.SYS from the Ansel
- diskettes to the root directory of your boot drive (the same
- directory which contains the file CONFIG.SYS). You will also need
- to add a line to your CONFIG.SYS file:
-
- DEVICE=HHSCAND.SYS /A=aaa/I=ii/D=d
-
- Where "aaa" is the address used by the scanner, "ii" is the IRQ
- and "d" is the DMA channel.
-
- USE OF AN IRQ
-
- Ansel requires the use of the IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest) on the ScanMan
- interface card. If the ScanMan interface card is configured for NO INTERRUPT,
- Ansel will not scan properly.
-
- Please refer to section 1.1 of the ScanMan User's Manual for the location of
- this jumper.
-
- The IRQ jumper is a block with five pin sets labeled 2 through 5
- and 7. This jumper will determine the IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest level)
- used between the interface board and the Computer.
-
- Use the following table to determine the IRQ's that CANNOT
- be used with your system
-
- There are five available IRQ's:
-
- -----------------------------------
- 2 3 4 5 7
- -----------------------------------
-
- If you have............then.............Cross out Pin-Set
- ----------------------------------------------------------
- IBM PC/XT 5
- IBM PC/XT with a Hard Disk 5
- IBM PS/2 (Model 25, 30) 2
- IBM AT 2
- IBM PS/2 (Model 30/286) 2
- Serial Adapter on COM1 (1st Serial Port) 4
- Serial Adapter on COM2 (2nd Serial Port) 3
- Enhanced Graphics Card (EGA, VGA or SVGA) 2
- Parallel Printer Port #2 (LPT2) 5
- Parallel Printer Port #1 (LPT1) 7
- ----------------------------------------------------------
-
- Place the jumper clip on one of the Pin-Sets NOT CROSSED OUT in the
- above table. Note that on some systems you can share the Pin-Set
- dedicated to LPT1 (pin 7), (or LPT2 (pin 5) on an AT) as long as
- you don't use the printer connected to that port at the same time.
