- DIMENSIONS MANIPULATIONS
- ************************
-
- Dimensioning is achieved in QikDraw in either AUTOMATIC or MANUAL mode.
- The AUTOMATIC mode is really semi-automatic, because the user will be
- prompted for the location of the dimension line, the length of the
- projection lines (as a fraction of the distance between the dimension
- line and the points to be dimensioned), the orientation of the
- dimension line, and the points to be dimensioned. The points to be
- dimensioned do not have to be specified in any specific order. QikDraw
- will then extract the dimensioning information and insert the values.
- In MANUAL mode, only the lines are drawn, the values are not inserted.
- The user can then insert any annotation by using symbol strings.
-
- Note that the dimensions are directly related to the references
- (points/lines), and would be altered if these references are altered.
-
- If it is desired to position individual dimensioning values, then the
- dimensioning can be made tied to points generated. The values can then
- be re-positioned by moving the relevant points. This feature can be
- selected or deselected through the use of the CHANGE command.
- Orientation of the values does not have to coincide with orientation
- of the dimension lines.
-
- Orientation of dimension lines or dimension values may be horizontal,
- vertical or parallel to an existing line.
-
- The following secondary selections are allowed:-
- OPTIONS:- Various dimensioning options are displayed graphically.
- ADD:- Dimensions are added in accordance with the selected
- option.
- DELETE:- Dimensions are deleted by locating the reference.
- If option selected with the LEFT button, the user will be
- able to delete dimensions in reverse order of storage.
- CHANGE:- Allows changes to the following specifications:-
- Whether MANUAL or AUTO;
- Pen and thickness definitions;
- Length of projection lines;
- Terminator type and size;
- Size of dimension values;
- Orientation of dimension values;
- Multiplier applied to the values;
- Number of decimal places; (-ve for rounding up)
- Tolerance definition;
- Whether dimension values are tied to points;
- The prefixing/suffixing of PHI or R;
- Associating to a symbol string for orientation, width
- scaling, padding and slant specifications;
- Degree minute and second specification for angles;
- Separator for the 1000th digit.
- Alternate selection allows for the change of PEN NUMBER
- only, or line style and thickness only. This selection
- also allows for changes in GLOBAL mode.
- PEN:- Defining PEN and line thickness as for lines. The
- thickness definition applies to the value only. The line
- work is always done with the minimum thickness.
- The default PEN NUMBER for dimensioning is 0.
- SPECI:- Specifying Default values for the dimensions.
- Similar to CHANGe. Some of the tertiary selections
- are:-
- DECI:- Specifies the number of decimal digits for
- AUTO dimensioning. Default is 0.
- AUTO:- Select or deselect AUTOMATIC mode.
- D-M-S:- Select degree-minute-second style output
- for angular dimensioning.
- TOLER:- Tolerances may be defined in LIMIT or
- BILATERAL form.
