  1.       PhotoFinish 2.x Release Information / Read Me File

  3. Thank you for purchasing PhotoFinish, a ZSoft image processing program 
  4. for the Windows environment. 
  5.  
  6. PhotoFinish 2.0 and higher has many additional features to make 
  7. it even easier to use. These features include calibrating your 
  8. devices, an AutoEnhance command to let the program automatically 
  9. enhance your pictures, and an AutoScan command to let the program 
  10. automatically scan and enhance images. In addition, there are 
  11. several new tools and commands to enhance your images. Some 
  12. commands that were on the Edit menu in PhotoFinish version 1.0 
  13. are now on a new menu named Image. A new feature, the Viewer 
  14. command on the File menu, lets you easily view and manage your 
  15. picture files.

  20. The rest of this file includes additional information and corrections 
  21. that became available after the PhotoFinish documentation was printed.

  27. If you let the PhotoFinish Setup program copy all files to your 
  28. PhotoFinish directory, remember to add the PhotoFinish directory 
  29. to your path. Most systems set their path in the AUTOEXEC.BAT 
  30. file. Other systems use a separate batch file to set their path. 
  31. Use a text editor, such as Notepad, to add PhotoFinish to your path. 
  32. For example, your path statement might look like this: 
  33. PATH C:\;C:\DOS;C:\Photo

  36. If you are using a disk compression program, such as Stacker, 
  37. do not set your virtual memory path to a compressed volume. If 
  38. you do so, you may not be able to open PhotoFinish. If this 
  39. happens, you must edit the [ZSoftVM] section of your WIN.INI 
  40. file and set your virtual memory path to an unstacked volume.
  41.

  43. If you plan to install a scanner for use with PhotoFinish on a 
  44. system that has one or more ZSoft scanner drivers already installed, 
  45. you must delete any reference to the old ZSoft scanner drivers 
  46. from your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT file before installing PhotoFinish.

  48. Use a text editor to make the changes to your files. If you are 
  49. not sure which line of your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT file to 
  50. modify, refer to the documentation from your older ZSoft program 
  51. for information about your specific scanner and its CONFIG.SYS 
  52. or AUTOEXEC.BAT entry.

  54. PhotoFinish's Setup program can automatically add the updated 
  55. ZSoft scanner drivers to your CONFIG.SYS file or AUTOEXEC.BAT. 
  56. Your older ZSoft applications will work with the new drivers.

  59. The Display Calibrate Monitor command is unavailable for 16 
  60. color VGA display drivers.

  63. Thumbnail preview pictures are saved to disk with an 
  64. extension that begins with an exclamation point. For 
  65. example, a thumbnail preview of a .PCX file has the extension
  66. of .!px. If you cannot save a file to the disk or directory 
  67. where the picture is, the thumbnail file is saved to a 
  68. PhotoFinish subdirectory named THUMNAIL.

  106. ZSoft has included a batch file that will remove PhotoFinish 
  107. from your hard disk in the event you need to uninstall the program. 
  108. This file is called UNINSTAL.BAT. This file deletes the PhotoFinish 
  109. directory and any subdirectories attached to the PhotoFinish 
  110. directory. This file also deletes any PhotoFinish program files 
  111. (DLL's) that were copied to your WINDOWS directory.

  113. To remove PhotoFinish from your hard disk:
  114. 1 Change to your PhotoFinish directory.
  115. 2 Type UNINSTAL followed by your WINDOWS directory.
  116.   For example, if your WINDOWS directory is located on C,type:
  117.   UNINSTAL C:\WINDOWS
  118. 3 At the Warning, choose Yes to remove PhotoFinish from your hard 
  119.   disk, choose No to leave PhotoFinish on your hard disk.
  120. 4 You must manually remove the PhotoFinish program icons and group 
  121.   icons by using the File Delete command on the Program Manager menu  
  122.   bar. For more information, see your Windows documentation.
  123. 5 You must manually remove the PATH = statement from your AUTOEXEC.BAT 
  124.   file if you choose to copy several program files (DLL's) to your 
  125.   PhotoFinish directory during Setup. For more information, see your
  126.   DOS documentation.
