  2. ADDITIONAL NOTES ON CORELMOSAIC

  4. Please note the following two additional points not covered in the 
  5. online document for MOSAIC:
  6.  
  7. 1) When you open a directory containing older CorelDRAW files or 
  8. certain other files, you may notice that the thumbnail image onscreen 
  9. only displays a patterned gray background overlain by a circle with 
  10. a strike through it.  This simply indicates that the thumbnail for 
  11. that file doesn't exist or can not be used for display purposes. 
  12. Importing the file into CorelDRAW 3.0 and saving it will create a 
  13. header that can be displayed by MOSAIC.

  15. 2) Whenever you update a library file in MOSAIC, the program makes 
  16. copies of your original library files in your TEMP drive and then uses 
  17. these copies for the updates you request.  Once the updates are complete, 
  18. the files in the TEMP drive overwrite your original library files to 
  19. complete the process.  If an error (e.g.  bad disk sector) should occur 
  20. in this final stage, your original library files may only be partially 
  21. overwritten and thereby rendered useless.  This is rare, but it can happen. 
  22. If it does, the updated copies of your library files that exist in the 
  23. TEMP drive are perfectly useable and will have the same names as 
  24. the originals.  You can use these.  Note however that if you're using 
  25. a RAM drive as your TEMP drive, those copies will disappear when you 
  26. power your computer off or if you're forced to reboot.  If you are 
  27. building large libraries, this is a good reason not to use RAM for 
  28. your TEMP drive.  Instead, assign it a directory on one of your 
  29. physical drives that has at least several megabytes of free space 
  30. available.  You'll also have to change the appropriate entry in 
  31. your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to let your system know exactly where your 
  32. TEMP drive is.

  34. As a general rule of thumb, whenever you build a library, you should
  35. have free space available on your TEMP drive equal to at least 50%
  36. of the file size of all the CDR files you intend to put into that 
  37. library.  If you're adding to an existing library, the free space 
  38. should equal the size of the existing library plus 50% of the 
  39. file size of all the CDR files you intend to add to it.
