- If you are able to run the program but are having a problem with
- your mouse! First try to find the latest mouse driver, if you still
- have a problem see 'Section 7' below.
-
-
- PRECAUTIONS:
- To insure proper operation of the program it is best to place it
- in its own directory. This is only a precaution, programs that
- are in their own directories do not bother or are not bothered by
- any other program. This is not a must, just good practice.
-
-
- SECTION 2: EGA Mouse Paint in Windows
-
- To use EGA Mouse Paint in Windows 3.1 and install the Icon, use
- the normal procedure to start Windows. Select the window in which
- you want to install the program (refer to your windows manual for
- installation of programs). Once you have installed the program in
- Windows, single click on the program just to highlight it. Pull
- down the "FILE" menu and select properties. Click on change icon.

- Section 3: Main Menu Screen
-
- Picture Select: When the main menu screen appears you have a choice
- of selecting a picture. To select a picture, point to the
- picture you would like to color and click on it. You should
- now have a picture to paint. The pointing finger cursor is for
- selecting pictures, when it changes to a crayon you can color.
-
- Coloring &
- Color Selection: Point to the color you would like to use and click
- on it. Now move the crayon over to the picture and click
- anywhere within the picture to fill that area. When coloring a
- picture the menu buttons will ask for verification (yes/no).
- You can color any picture within its boundaries with any
- color that is available from the palette at the right of
- the screen. If you want to select another palette of patterns
- to color with just click on the color box when a picture is on
- the screen. This will toggle back and forth.
-
- Page Select: There are 14 pictures to select from on page one and
- another 15 pictures to select on page two & three. To select a
- picture from page two or three put the crayon cursor over the
- page button and click the mouse. It will go from page 1 to
- page two to page 3 then back to page 1.
-
- New Picture: Once you have selected or are tired of coloring the
- picture that is on the screen, you can select another
- picture by clicking on the "New Picture" button. The button is
- located on the bottom of the screen. This button will return
- you back to the main menu page where you originally selected
- the picture. You must verify your choice (yes/no).
-
- Clear: Clear the picture that is presently on the screen of all colors.
- This button will allow you to start over coloring the picture
- you are working on. You must verify your choice (yes/no).
-
- Quit: This button exits the Program and returns to the DOS environment.
- You must only verify this choice in the painting screens.
-
- Section 4: Using the Printer
-
- Print is located in the bottom right corner of the main menu screen.
- It can only be used in the painting screens. Select a picture, once you
- are at the picture you can print out the screen. You can also print the
- screen once you have colored in the picture. The program has been set up
- for an HP II laser printer or compatible, it will change the colors to a
- dithered black and white image. To use an Epson/IBM pin printer edit the
- FGS.DAT file. Change the "L" to "E" and save the changes. Additional

-
- Section 5: Using the Screen Saver
-
- In the Upper left corner of the screen is a box "S". If you click on
- this portion of the screen you will start the Screen Saver function.
- This will allow you to interrupt the program while you answer the dinner
- bell and return to the same spot you stopped. Once you start the
- Screen Saver it will not ask for verification but will start instantly.
- To return to the drawing just press the space bar. The program will
- reinstall the picture you were working on where you left off so you
- can continue to color. The program no longer writes the screen to
- disk. It's fun just to watch once in a while.
-
- Section 6: Using Arrow-Draw
-
- The Arrow-Draw function is in the lower right hand box on page 1
- (the 15th box). To use Arrow-Draw, click on its box the same as a
- a drawing. Point and click on the point that you want to start your
- sketch. Once the window turns blank you can start to draw.
- You can use the arrow keys or the numeric keys for diagonal lines
- (num lock must be off to use numeric keys). When you press the space bar
- the line will change from a light gray color to a darker shade of gray.
- The coloring portion in this section will only recognize the lighter gray
- as its boundaries. This will allow you to move around the screen and make
- shapes in different areas, when you color in your picture the program
- will only fill the lighter gray areas. Once you are finished making your
- picture and are ready to color it in, press the "q" key on the keyboard.
- You will now see the cursor with which you can select a color and start
- coloring. The clear button is inactive in this screen. The Screen Saver
- also works in this screen. The "New Picture" button will return you to
- the main menu screen after you verify your choice (yes/no). You can save
- the image you have created by selecting the "*Save" button when you are
- finished creating your picture. In the main menu, on the third page the
- lower left box says "saved arrow draw picture". Select this box to bring
- the saved image back. You can now recolor this image or print it.
-
-
-
- Section 7: Using Timer & SetUp
-
- Run the setup program called EGASETUP.EXE to change the mouse (if you
- have a problem), printers, timer value, etc. The timer can be set
- by clicking the right mouse button on the "timer off" area just under
- the COLOR box. This can only be done in the selection screens.
