  8.     SPSS for Windows is installed in two steps:

  10.     Step 1 updates Microsoft Windows.If you are running Windows 3.0, it adds
  11.     operating system files required for SPSS for Windows. These files are
  12.     used for Windows 3.1 applications running in Windows 3.0.

  14.     If you are already running Windows 3.1, you can exit now.  No updates
  15.     of Windows files are required to run SPSS.

  17.    ~Warning:  This step cannot be executed from within Windows.  If you are
  18.    ~trying to install SPSS from within Windows, you must exit now.
