  7.             ********** ANSYS-PC Graphics Drivers **********
  8.  
  9. The ANSYS-PC programs are supplied with eight (8) graphics drivers that 
  10. support different graphics devices.  Which driver to use is determined by 
  11. the type of hardware available to the user.  A graphics driver MUST be 
  12. loaded before entering any ANSYS routine.  
  13.  
  14. The graphics drivers available are: HERCULES, MEDIUM, ENHANCED, EGA256,
  15.                                     PROF, VMI1024, GPR, and HP7475.
  16. A brief description of each of the drivers is given in the following 
  17. paragraphs.  In general, the HERCULES and MEDIUM drivers are not recommended.

  20.  HERCULES Driver (Not Recommended)
  21.  
  22.     Hardware:  Monitor - Standard (medium) resolution color (or monochrome)
  23.                          graphics monitor
  24.                  Board - Hercules (or compatible) Monochrome Graphics Card

  26.     Resolution - 720 x 348
  27.  
  28.     Colors - None.  However, 16 (monochrome) area-fill patterns are available.

  30.     Menu Mode - Yes;                            Light source shading - No
  31.  
  32.     Plot storage - Plots can be stored sequentially (as frames) on 
  33.                    GRAPHIC.DAT file.
  34.  
  35.     Plot display - Plots can be displayed interactively within the ANSYS 
  36.                    program or, if stored on the GRAPHIC.DAT file, can be 
  37.                    displayed using the DISPHRC program.
  38.    
  39.     Animation    - The DISPHRC program can be used to display stored plots 
  40.                    (up to 8 frames) in sequence for an "animation" effect.
  41.   
  42.     Hard copies  - There is no "screen dump" option available.
  43.                    Use the GPR driver, which directs the plot to an
  44.                    IBM (or compatible) graphics printer.  If a HP-7475 
  45.                    plotter is available, use the HP7475 driver.

  48.  MEDIUM Driver (Not Recommended)

  50.     Hardware:  Monitor - Standard (medium) resolution color graphics monitor
  51.                  Board - IBM (or compatible) Color Graphics Adapter (CGA)

  53.     Resolution - 320 x 200
  54.  
  55.     Colors - 9 (dithering used with 4 available basic colors)

  57.     Menu Mode - No;                             Light source shading - No

  59.     Plot storage - Plots can be stored sequentially (as frames) on 
  60.                    GRAPHIC.DAT file.
  61.  
  62.     Plot display - Plots can be displayed interactively within the ANSYS 
  63.                    program or, if stored on the GRAPHIC.DAT file, can be 
  64.                    displayed using the DISPLAY program.
  65.    
  66.     Animation    - The DISPLAY program can be used to display stored plots 
  67.                    (up to 8 frames) in sequence for an "animation" effect.

  69.     Hard copies  - The "Print Screen" key can be used to "dump" the screen on
  70.                    to a printer.  The DOS GRAPHICS command must be issued, 
  71.                    beforehand, at the system level.  If a screen dump is not
  72.                    desired, use the GPR driver, which directs the plot to an
  73.                    IBM (or compatible) graphics printer.  If a HP-7475 plotter
  74.                    is available, use the HP7475 driver.

  76.     Note:  Some characters in the dialog portion of the plots are truncated
  77.            due to the size of characters on a medium resolution monitor.  
  78.            This may affect, in some cases, the contour label values on 
  79.            contour plots (but not the contour plot itself).  In that event, 
  80.            use the PRINT commands to list the desired values.

  83.  ENHANCED Driver

  85.     Hardware:  Monitor - High (enhanced) resolution color graphics monitor
  86.                  Board - IBM (or compatible) Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA)
  87.                          board with at least 128K of memory
  88.  
  89.     Resolution - 640 x 350
  90.  
  91.     Colors - 16;                                 Light source shading - No
  92.  
  93.     Menu Mode - Yes.  However, separate graphics and text planes are not
  94.                 available.  This means that a listing requested while in the
  95.                 menu mode, or choosing the HELP option provided by the menu 
  96.                 mode, will overwrite the plot area and the plot will have to
  97.                 be recreated.  Similarly, a /T issued while in the menu mode 
  98.                 switches to the text mode, but the plot is lost and will have 
  99.                 to be recreated.

  102.     Plot storage - Plots can be stored sequentially (as frames) on GRAPHIC.DAT
  103.                    file.

  105.     Plot display - Plots can be displayed interactively within the ANSYS

  115.                    required for the "interface" between the screen and the 
  116.                    printer.  Several software programs are available for 
  117.                    screen dumps from an enhanced resolution monitor to 
  118.                    standard dot matrix printers.  See your local dealer or a 
  119.                    PC magazine for details.  If a screen dump is not desired, 
  120.                    use the GPR driver, which directs the plot to an IBM (or 
  121.                    compatible) graphics printer.  If a HP-7475 plotter is 
  122.                    available, use the HP7475 driver.

  243.   This driver is used to obtain hard copies of plots on a 2-D pen plotter.  
  244.   Plots requested are not displayed at the screen, but directed to the
  245.   plotter.  Only two-dimensional plots can be obtained.  No area fill is
  246.   possible.
  247.  
  248.     Hardware:  Monitor - Any
  249.                  Board - Any
  250.                Plotter - HP-7475 plotter
  251.  
  252.     Resolution - 7200 x 10000
  253.  
  254.     Colors - One (1)
  255.
