- ( ) Network adapter and modem at the same time.
- Note: This selection is made only at install time. To change
- the selection after installing, you must remove and reinstall
- Remote Access.
- The first option, the default, is intended for users who plan
- to connect to the network using a network adapter card and
- cables when at the office, and by using Remote Access and a
- modem when away from the office. For example, you may have a
- laptop computer that, when at the office, sits in a docking
- station and connects to the LAN through a network adaptor
- card and cables. But when you travel, you remove your laptop
- from the docking station and connect to the network using
- Remote Access and a modem.
- The first option makes it easier for your system to switch
- from using the network adapter card to using Remote Access
- and a modem, and vice versa. Also, this option allows you to
- use a wider variety of applications when connecting from a
- remote location.
- If you select this option, you must unload the LAN Manager
- drivers before loading the Remote Access drivers and
- connecting to the network. To unload the network protocol
- drivers, first complete this Setup program. Then type
- UNLOAD <PROTOCOL>, where PROTOCOL is the name of the LAN
- Manager protocol driver. (Type LOAD /I to determine this
- name.) If the protocols cannot be unloaded by typing UNLOAD
- <PROTOCOL>, run the LAN Manager Setup program to remove the
- protocols and then restart your computer.

- a network adapter and cables, while at the same time
- connecting to another network using Remote Access and a
- modem.

- This program corrects the problem by removing Remote Access
- lines not in the SETUP.INI. If you have installed LAN
- Manager drivers, it may be necessary to delete the old driver
- lines by hand to fully correct all inconsistencies.
- This modification effectively disables your old LAN Manager
- installation. There is no Setup support for multiple LAN
- Manager or Remote Access installations. If you wish to
- maintain two versions of LAN Manager on your computer, it is
- best to create batch files that swap system configuration
- files.
