RESOLUTION User's Guide Reference: pp. 4-25 - 4-27 This option allows you to specify the hardcopy resolution for flow chart and tree chart printouts. Press <Cr> or <R> to toggle high and low printing resolution mode. High resolution makes the flow charts and tree charts more compact vertically. Consequently, you can see larger parts of diagrams on one page of printouts. However, printing a diagram in high resolution requires considerably more time than normal (or low resolution) printing. GRAPHICS BUFFER User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to specify the subdirectory for writing temporary graphics files. Press <Cr> or <G> to toggle the four buffer choices defined in the Reconfigure utility. If output is set to screen and the diagram is too big to plot in RAM, CLEAR has to have access to a disk or RAM disk space in order to write the temporary graphics files it needs toread while displaying sections of diagrams. We recommend that you specify the RAM disk as the Graphics Buffer; your CONFIG.SYSfile has to include VDISK device driver installation. If you select a hard disk directory, diagram display will be very slow. DATA BUFFER User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to specify the subdirectory for writing temporary data files. Press <Cr> or <D> to toggle the four buffer choices defined in the Reconfigure utility. At all times, CLEAR has to have access to a disk or RAM diskspace in order to write the temporary data files it needs to read while generating flow charts and tree charts. We recommendthat you specify the RAM disk as the Data Buffer; in that case your CONFIG.SYS file has to include VDISK device driver installation. Selecting a hard disk directory would somewhat slow down CLEAR diagram generation. FILE BUFFER User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to specify the subdirectory for writing PRINT, PCX, and PIC files. Press <Cr> or <F> to toggle the four buffer choices defined in the Reconfigure utility. Let's assume that you are working with a FUNCTIONNAME in FILENAME.L which is #6 in the [F9] list. CLEAR will name the output files as this: FILEN006.FBF, FILEN006.TBF, FILEN006.TXT, FILEN006.FXR - flow chart, tree chart, source print, and cross reference of the function sent to a PRINT file; FUNCTION.F01 and FUNCTION.F02 - 1st and 2nd pages of a (two page) flow chart,FUNCTION.T01 - (one page) tree chart sent to a PCX or PIC file. PRINTER User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to configure CLEAR to use the primaryor the secondary printer drivers pre-defined during installationor using the Reconfigure utility. Press <Cr> or <P> to toggle primary and secondary printer drivers. Please note that the selected printer has to be attached to printer port corresponding to the one specified in the Output Port option in this menu. If you wish to change the primary or secondary printer definition, use the Reconfigure utility in theQUIT/RUN menu. Also remember to make sure that all the switches(Automatic cr/lf, Epson mode, etc.) are set correctly. OUTPUT PORT User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to specify the parallel printer port to which the default printer is attached. Press <Cr> or <O> to toggle available output (printer) port options. If you wish to use two printers for printing CLEAR diagrams, you can attach them to different parallel output ports of your system and transfer control from one printer to another, withoutleaving CLEAR, by re-setting the Printer and Output Port optionsin the Configuration menu. SIZE OF PAPER User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-4 - 6-6 This option allows you to choose Letter, Wide, or Custom paper size for hardcopy output pre-defined using the Reconfigureutility. Press <Cr> or <S> to toggle the three paper size options. The format of the drawing which comes out on your printer, is greatly dependent on the paper size and its definition. CLEAR comes with a pre-defined table of paper sizes (in pixels) for each of the supported printers. If the drawing doesn't lookright on the page, or if you wish to experiment with a differentformat, use the Reconfigure utility to re-define paper sizes. NON-FUNCTIONAL SAVE ACTIONS USER'S GUIDE REFERENCE: pp. 6-11 - 6-12 This option allows you to save all the parameters and settings specified in the ACTIONS menu (except titles) as the defaults for future CLEAR sessions. A NON-FUNCTIONAL SELECT FUNCTIONS User's Guide Reference: pp. 4-7 - 4-11 This option allows you to mark the desired functions for future actions. CLEAR has scanned through the selected file(s) and found all the functions in it. The functions are listed in alphabetical order. If you have already worked with this file, the square brackets to the left of each function contain your previous choice of actions. Position the cursor on the desired function and use the keys described below to toggle diagram type. You can use the first character search key - [F8] - to quickly locate functions. If output device is set to screen, source print and cross reference are impossible. SELECT FILE User's Guide Reference: pp. 4-4 - 4-6 CLEAR displays the list of files in the working directory with the bar cursor positioned over the first one. Use cursor control keys to position the cursor over the file you wish to process and press <Cr> to select it. You can also press the first letter of the file name to directly move the cursor to thefirst file whose name begins with that character. Once you select a file it becomes the subject of all subsequent actions until you select a different file or exit CLEAR. Only files that meet the "FILES TO LIST" specification from the directory setting are displayed during file selection. RENAME FILE User's Guide Reference: p. 5-6 CLEAR displays the list of files in the working directory with the bar cursor positioned over the first one. Use cursor control keys to position the cursor over the desired file and press <Cr>. Then enter a new file name in the space provided and reply to the prompt requesting your assurance. You have up to eight characters for file name and up to three characters for its extension. Only files that meet the "FILES TO LIST" specification are displayed in the listing. If you don't see the desired file, try specifying another directoryor more generalized "FILES TO LIST" setting (*.*). DELETE FILE User's Guide Reference: p. 5-6 CLEAR displays the list of files in the working directory with the bar cursor positioned over the first one. Use cursor control keys to position the cursor over the desired file and press <Cr>. Then make sure that it is the right file and reply to the prompt requesting your assurance. Be careful -- once you delete a file it is permanently erased from the working directory. Only files that meet the "FILES TO LIST" specification are displayed in the listing. If you don't see the desired file, try specifying another directoryor more generalized "FILES TO LIST" setting (*.*). BROWSE FILE LIST User's Guide Reference: p. 5-5 CLEAR displays the list of files in the working directory with the bar cursor positioned over the first one. Use cursor control keys to review the listing. Only files that meet the "FILES TO LIST" specification from directory setting are displayed during directory listing. This option allows you to quickly review the contents of the working directory. If you don't see the desired file on the list, try specifying another directory or more generalized "FILES TO LIST"setting (*.*). B NON-FUNCTIONAL OUTPUT DEVICE User's Guide Reference: pp. 4-14 - 4-17 This option allows you to set output device for CLEAR actions. Use the cursor control keys to position the cursor over the desired output option and press <Cr> to select it. If you direct output to a PRINT, PCX, or PIC file, remember that CLEAR is going to write the files to the subdirectory specified as a file buffer in the Configuration submenu. You should direct output to a PRINT file if you wish to use DOS background printing, and to PIC or PCX file if you wish to export diagrams to desk-top publishing or screen-paint programs.Text diagrams can only be output to printer or PRINT file. SELECT C LANGUAGE User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-6 - 6-8 This option allows you to select the current C language (Microsoft C, TURBO C, or Generic C). If you wish to choose a different flow chart dictionary for the current language, select the Dictionaryoption in the GLOBAL menu. You can then save the new Language- Dictionary-Preprocessor combination as the default environment. SELECT PREPROCESSOR User's Guide Reference: p. 6-6 This option allows you to select the preprocessor setting for CLEAR file and diagram processing. Use cursor control keysto position the cursor over the desired option and press <Cr>. The preprocessor selection determines the amount of symbol redefinition that takes place before CLEAR processes the source.Using No preprocessor or Internal preprocessor is quicker than invoking the Language preprocessor that comes with a specific version of C. Since some preprocessors do not pass comment lines, the specially marked comments will be lost. Conditional compilation directives require active preprocessor for parsing. SELECT DICTIONARY User's Guide Reference: pp. 6-6 - 6-7 CLEAR displays the list of flow chart key word dictionaries (files with extension .WRD) in the System directory with the bar cursor positioned over the first one. Use cursor control keys to position the cursor over the dictionary file you wish toselect and press <Cr> to select it. You can also press the first letter of the file name to directly move the cursor to thefirst file whose name begins with that character. The dictionary contains information on flow chart symbol assignment, value redefinition for Internal preprocessor, and statement inclusion flags for Control, Compressed, Logic modes.
