  4. We appreciate your use of Clip-Art Window Shopper and have
  5. included these notes for your convenience.
  6.  
  7. Please use the convenient INSTALL program provided; you cannot 
  8. copy the files from floppy disk directly as the files are 
  9. compressed.  Note: You should exit from Windows before running 
  10. INSTALL.EXE.

  13. USING CLIP-ART IN YOUR APPLICATIONS
  14. -----------------------------------
  15.  
  16. For those of you who are fairly new to the world of clip-art, it 
  17. is important to know what graphics "file format" your word 
  18. processor, illustration program, etc. can use.
  19.  
  20. For example, Corel Draw normally loads and saves files in .CDR 
  21. format.  In addition, using the File Import and File Export 
  22. commands, it can load and save files in a variety of other 
  23. formats.  Other programs can utilize only certain file formats, 
  24.  
  25. Most Windows applications also use the Windows clipboard -- 
  26. so you can use it to get clip-art into your document or presen-
  27. tation.  In the case of Word for Windows 1.0, you can use Windows 
  28. PaintBrush to read in a clip-art image in .PCX format, copy it to 
  29. the clipboard, and finally paste it into your Word document.

  32. BILLING SIMPLIFICATION

  35. For those of you who require simplification of the billing 
  36. process, we can establish prepayment on your account.  Call for

  40. MAJOR NEW FEATURES
  41. ------------------

  43. 1.  A keyword search feature has been added.  You can access this
  44. handy feature by clicking on the Search button in the main window 
  45. or from the view dialog box.  The search feature lets you locate 
  46. images according to their descriptions.  Window Shopper will try 
  47. to match and display images based on the keyword you enter.
  48.  
  49. The Window Shopper search feature uses a partial word search and 
  50. is not case sensitive.  Meaning, if you type in "dog", you will 
  51. find "Boy Walking with Dog", "Hot Dog", and "Collie, Dog, 
  52. Animal".  All of these descriptions match the keyword "dog", and 
  53. their corresponding images will be displayed on the screen.

  55. You can also speed up the search by specifying which file formats
  56. you most commonly use and by telling Window Shopper to search the
  57. downloadable images only.

  59. 2.  We have added a What's New feature.  This is a file down-
  60. loaded to you each time you logon that contains information on 
  61. newly available art and price specials.  It will help you keep 
  62. your thumbnail library current and alert you to upcoming 
  63. features.

  66. LAST MINUTE CHANGES
  67. -------------------

  69. Following is a list of the minor changes made since the manual 
  70. was printed, or things which were inadvertently omitted from the 
  71. manual.  Please take a minute now to review these, as it could 
  72. save a headache later!
  73.  
  74. 1.  The database update portion of the program has been stream-
  75. lined tremendously.  It is no longer necessary to specify Minimal 
  76. or Maximal update.  Window Shopper will always update any files 
  77. that are out of date.  If you are up to date when you call Window 
  78. Shopper will log you on much more quickly.
  79.  
  80. 2.  You will find files under the Adonis publisher name called 
  81. Tech Tips.  These files contain detailed instructions on how to 
  82. use and maintain Window Shopper.
  83.  
  84. 3.  The installation process now allows you to copy all of the
  85. Thumbnail Files to your hard Disk.  We recommend doing so, as it 
  86. speeds up Window Shopper considerably.  It also enhances mainten-
  87. ance and updating of the local Thumbnail database.

  90. 4.  Please determine whether a phone call to Bellevue, Washington 
  91. would be long-distance for you.  If you must dial "1-" or 
  92. "1-206-", this is the Dialing Prefix you should fill in when 
  93. prompted.  Otherwise, your modem will not know how to direct a 
  94. call to Washington!
  95.  
  96. 5.  Correction to Page 25: the time to disconnect is 10 minutes, 
  97. but after downloading a clip-art image, the timer counts down 
  98. from 1 min 30 sec, so that you won't accidentally stay logged on 
  99. unnecessarily.

  101. 6.  We have tested Clip-Art Window Shopper with many "Hayes-
  102. compatible" modems without problem.  However there are a few 
  103. elements to watch out for: error checking, compression and 
  104. asynchronous communication.  If you are having problems communi-
  105. cating with the service, these are the first places to look.  In 
  106. general we suggest that you use the asynchronous mode (see your 
  107. modem manual for the specific command) and turn off compression 
  108. and error checking if the modem is communicating at 2400 baud or 
  109. below.  If you have problems do not hesitate to call us!
  110.  
  111. 7.  Because certain modems are slightly less than "Hayes-
  112. compatible", we have made the communications parameters available 
  113. to you in the [Window Shopper] section of WIN.INI.  We suggest 
  114. you consult us before changing these!
  115.  
  116. 8.  This version of Shopper works only with Windows 3.0 and above.
