  2. Using Microsoft Access with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups
  3. ------------------------------------------------------------

  5. Important:  Before You Use Microsoft Access with Microsoft 
  6. Windows for Workgroups
  7. ----------------------------------------------------------

  9. While running Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, if you use the 
  10. Network button in Microsoft Access dialog boxes to connect 
  11. to a password-protected server, you may lose data. To avoid 
  12. damaging your database, you must install the updated Microsoft 
  13. Windows for Workgroups Driver included with Microsoft Access. 
  14. Until you have installed this driver, do not use the Network
  15. button in Microsoft Access dialog boxes to make network 
  16. connections.

  18. Note: If you are considering installing Windows for Workgroups 
  19. at a later date, install the updated driver now.
  20.  
  21. To install the updated Windows for Workgroups Driver:
  22.  
  23. 1 Exit Microsoft Windows or Windows For Workgroups.  
  24.  
  25.   This driver cannot be installed while you are running 
  26.   Microsoft Windows.
  27.  
  28. 2 Insert the ODBC disk in drive A.
  29.  
  30. 3 Type a:wfwdrv
  31.  
  32.   * If Windows is installed on your PC, but is not in your 
  33.     PATH statement in AUTOEXEC.BAT, enter the path where 
  34.     Windows is installed. For example, type: 
  35.   
  36.       a:wfwdrv c:\windows.
  37.  
  38.   * If Windows is installed on the network, specify the system 
  39.     directory where USER.EXE is found. For example, to install 
  40.     the driver into the q:\system directory type: 
  41.  
  42.       a:wfwdrv q:\system 
  43.  
  44. 4 Type win to restart Windows.
