-
- Optional software installation
- ------------------------------
- If you decided NOT to install some of the optional software when
- you first installed FoxBASE+, and you later decide you would like
- to install it, you can do so by using the command
- INSTALL2
-
- FOXINST.PRG is a program written in FoxBASE+ which copies and
- unarchives the files on disks 3 and up. If you have deleted this
- program, the database FOXINST.DBF, the program PKXARC.COM, or any
- other files placed or your disk by the installation program, you will
- have to go through the entire installation procedure starting with disk 1
- to recover them.
-
- If you encounter problems installing FoxBASE+ optional software, check the
- following before calling Fox Software Technical Support:
- 1. Have you freed up as much memory as you possibly can by removing
- all memory resident (TSR) programs?
- 2. If you are installing on a network file server, have you confirmed
- that you have the necessary security permissions to create files
- and subdirectories on the network?
- 3. Have you tried reinstalling the entire product starting with disk
- 1 by using the installation procedure described in the manual?
-
-
- Installation and Use of MOUSE.ARC
- ---------------------------------
- During the FoxBASE+ installation process, you will have an
- opportunity to install the contents of MOUSE.ARC. This file
- contains two programs which are useful to users of the Microsoft
- mouse. If you do not have the Microsoft mouse, you need not
- install from MOUSE.ARC. If you do use the Microsoft mouse, you
- may find these programs useful.
-
- The two files contained in MOUSE.ARC are:
- MOUSE.COM - a recent version of the Microsoft mouse driver
- DEFAULT.COM - a memory resident (TSR) program which allows the
- mouse to be used to simulate the arrow keys, the
- Enter key, and other keys, in programs which don't
- normally support the mouse.
-
- THESE PROGRAMS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH FoxBASE+/386, but they
- will work in FoxView run from FoxBASE+/386.
-
- Before you can load and use DEFAULT.COM you must load MOUSE.COM.
- To load MOUSE.COM, type MOUSE. It will be loaded into memory where
- it will occupy about 9k bytes until you type MOUSE OFF to unload it.
- To load DEFAULT.COM, type DEFAULT. It will occupy about 12k bytes
- until you type DEFAULT OFF, which will unload it. All of these
- commands must be entered from the DOS command line, and of course,
- must be in the current working directory or in a directory locatable via
- the DOS PATH. If you will be using them regularly, you may want to copy
- these files into the directory on your hard disk where you keep other
- utilities or commands, and include them in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so
- they will be loaded whenever you start up your machine.
-
- Once DEFAULT is loaded, you can perform the mouse
- actions described in the following table to emulate certain
- keys in FoxBASE+, FoxVIEW, FoxCentral, or any FoxBASE application.
-
- Press To emulate
- ----- ----------
- The left mouse button The F3 key
- The right right button The Return or Enter key
- Both mouse buttons The Esc key
-
- Move To emulate
- ---- ----------
- The mouse to the left The Left Arrow key
- The mouse to the right The Right Arrow key
- The mouse up The Up Arrow key
- The mouse down The Down Arrow key
-
- This can be especially helpful in FoxView, where the F3 key
- starts DRAG mode, the Esc key causes the pull-down menu system
- to be displayed, and the Enter key selects items from the menus.
-
- Installation and Use of Shareware Templates
- -------------------------------------------
- During the installation of FoxBASE+ optional software, you will
- be asked if you want to install various shareware FoxView templates.
- If you decide to install any shareware templates, the install program
- will copy them into subdirectories of the FoxBASE+ home directory.
-
- Some of the shareware templates are very powerful and therefore more
- complicated to use than the standard templates. Others generate code
- which is designed to replace parts of the code generated by the APPS1
- template. Therefore, BEFORE YOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO USE A SHAREWARE TEMPLATE,
- YOU SHOULD READ THE README.DOC FILE AND ANY ADDITIONAL .DOC FILES IN
- ITS SUBDIRECTORY COMPLETELY!!
-
- You should also know that these templates ARE NOT FREE.
- If you use them, you must register them immediately with their
- authors. Registration information for a template can be found in
- a file in its subdirectory called README.DOC. Fox Software will
- not support the shareware templates. If you encounter a problem with
- one of them, you should register it and contact its author for
- technical support.
-
- After you evaluate a template and decide to register it and use it,
- you may want to copy it's .COD, .CHN, and 001, 002 etc files to the
- TEMPLCOD subdirectory so the template will appear in the Template
- List in FoxView.
-
- If you would like to submit a template for inclusion on the shareware
- disk, address a letter to the FoxBASE+ Product Manager describing your
- template. Send along a disk containing a copy of your template and a
- README.DOC file describing your pricing plan.
