  4. "AiryFolders" is a shell extension, which allows you to assign any icon
  5. to any file folder in the Windows95 shell. You can customize icon 
  6. for open and close state of the each folder of your choice.

  8. Take more fun from your Windows shell and increase your productivity 
  9. with "AiryFolders" shell extension. Assign meaningful icons to important 
  10. folders. Break rows of boring uniform folders with tailored icons. Let

  17. "AiryFolders" is shareware. It means you can use it for free during trial 
  18. period of 20 days. If you like it and want to use it legally after trial
  19. period ends you have to register it.

  24. To install "AiryFolders" right-click on the file "Folders.inf", included in 
  25. the installation set and choose ôInstallö from the context menu.
  26. Samples of icons are contained in the AFIcons.dll, that will be placed inside
  27. your Windows\System directory.
  28. This utility uses Windows scripting to install. This design eliminates 200 kb
  29. overhead of common installation routines, but you have to install from directory 
  30. with short (DOS) name. This is limitation of Windows installation script.

  36. To assign tailored icon to the folder, right-click on the folder, choose
  37. "Properties" from the context menu and go to the "Icon" property page.

  49. If you wish to send order and obtain your registration information for
  50. "AiryFolders" you may run ôRegisterö application, included in the
  51. installation set. 
  52. Make sure to follow instructions in the dialog and it does the entire
  53. job for you. Registration information will be e-mailed to you 
  54. within 1 to 4 days.
  55. To enter your registration information you have to press ôRegisterô
  56. button on ôIconö property page of any folder.

  58. How to uninstall "AiryFolders".

  61. To uninstall "AiryFolders" shell extension you may run "Add/Remove Programs"
  62. from the Control Panel and double-click on the "AiryFolders"
  63. shell extension.

  74. 1.  To manage, extract, edit and create icons you may use some tools, which 
  75. can be found at www.download.com under category Multimedia & Design \Icons.
  76. 2.  To assign different icons to each hard drive in your system you may 
  77. create file Autorun.inf  in the root directory, containing lines:
  78.        [autorun]
  79.        ICON=iconfilename,index
  80. where iconfilename is full path to file, containing icon and index is     
  81. number of image inside this file, usually 0.
  82. 3.  Most of shell icons are located inside Windows\System\Shell32.dll file.

  84. Known problems for this version of "AiryFolders".

  87. 1.  You can see small icon of the folder unchanged in the left pane 
  88. of the Windows Explorer the first time you have applied customization
  89. to it. The icon will be correct next time you restart your computer.
  90. 2.  You can see plus tab in the left pane of the Windows Explorer for 
  91. folder that does not actually contain subfolders.  This is due the way 
  92. Windows shell manages extensions and will be fixed in the next version.
