- S.W.I.N.E. Introduction:
- ========================
- S.W.I.N.E. is a hilarious real-time strategy game in which you must carry out various missions
- while taking advantage of the terrain and your units' special abilities. You take the role of the
- commander of the attacking Pig army or the defending Rabbit forces. Your army's abilities and
- strengths will develop over the course of the game. Before and during the missions, you will also
- have the opportunity to purchase or sell units, and upgrade or augment them with various items of
- equipment. However, this will cost you some of the strategic points (SP) you receive for
- destroying enemy objects (units, buildings, etc.) and for successfully completing your missions.
- Further strategic components include the use of the air support and supply trailers for repairs,
- ammunition, and fuel. Clever exploitation of the terrain, selecting the proper units, and the
- skillful use of your abilities will enable even a small force to succeed against an enemy with
- numerical superiority.
-
- Each mission can consist of several objectives, spread across several areas on the map. Therefore
- we recommend that you examine each map carefully and then neutralize the enemy units in accordance
- with your orders in such a manner that minimizes casualties. The game has been accompanied by huge
- amounts of audio messages that are perfectly tailored for the different units and situations. The
- numerous announcements, order confirmations, and wisecracks are accompanied by animations that are
- as funny as they are cute. The game uses a fully three-dimensional map, the so-called Fog of War
- (portions of the map that your units cannot see will be blocked out). This concept allows you to
- use the terrain (mountains, valleys, etc.) as cover, thus opening up special tactical
- possibilities. Thanks to high-resolution textures and an extremely high number of polygons for the
- units and maps, you are going to experience a real-time strategy game at a level of quality never
- seen before.
-
-
- The Story so far...
- ===================
- On August 3, under the orders of General Iron Tusk, the NATIONAL ARMY OF PIGS crossed the border
- without warning and penetrated deep into Carrotland territory. Within two weeks, they'd burned
- everything to the ground and laid siege to the capital city. As a result of the surprise attack,
- the rabbit army was decimated. Towns and villages are deserted. The defense's determined efforts
- were not met with much success, and the severely weakened rabbit army were not able to stem the
- hordes of swine. In desperation, the government and the staff of generals reach the following
- decision: Because of the overwhelming might of Iron Tusk's war machine, success via a frontal
- attack will be impossible. The rabbits will have to resort to subterfuge to have any chance of
- success. From the remains of their reserves, the rabbits create a powerful fighting force. Without
- suffering too many losses, this force must harass and stage skirmishes against the enemy until
- they lose all their supply lines and military objectives. Now, all that remains is to find a
- capable officer who can lead this operation.
-
-
- S.W.I.N.E. Demo Overview:
- =========================
- This demo is the 4th mission in the Rabbit campaign. In the full game you will be able to play
- 12 missions in the Rabbit campaign and 10 missions in the Pig campaign. One of the ways S.W.I.N.E.
- differs from traditional RTS games is in its resource management. Units are assigned at the start
- of each mission but you can purchase or sell additional units, resources and special capabilities
- for them. You can also purchase additional units during each mission if you have sufficient
- Strategy Points (SP). You can repair, re-supply and refuel your units if you have the appropriate
- resource trailers. The resources trailers are an important element of the tactical and strategic
- elements of the game so use them effectively. You will be able to take units with you to
- subsequent missions as you successfully complete the missions.
-
- Hints for this mission:
-
- * Get the resources trailers into the city. Remember they have to be towed by vehicles capable
- of towing.
- * Use the Minelayer vehicle effectively.
- * Massing firepower to repel attacks is a useful tactic.
- * Remember, units have special abilities, for example, tanks can dig in for enhanced defensive
- capability, use the special command on the control screen to engage these capabilities.
- * Command Vehicles can call in air strikes if you have enough Strategy Points.
- * You can buy additional units during a mission by pressing the "Buy Unit" button if you have
- enough SP points.
- * Pressing "Escape" at any time during a mission will allow you to review the briefing and get
- access to the help menu.
-
-
- Controlling the game
- ====================
- The game can be completely controlled using just a mouse.
-
- Tip: For effective control of the game, we recommend using a mouse in combination with
- the keyboard. You can move the camera using the arrow keys. You can adjust camera angle and zoom
- using the mouse's scrolling wheel (if it has one), and input your orders using the mouse buttons.
-
- Using the Mouse:
- You can select all the options in all the menus by clicking the left mouse buttons.
- During the game, you can use all three mouse buttons (including the mouse wheel, if you have one).
-
- Left Mouse Button:
- Highlights units; activates the functions of the control field.
-
- Center Mouse Button (Scrolling Wheel):
- If you press the central mouse button, you can use the mouse to rotate or adjust the camera's
- elevation in the corresponding direction. You can use the mouse's scrolling function to zoom the
- camera in or out. If your mouse doesn't have a scrolling wheel, the camera can also be controlled
- by simultaneously pressing both mouse buttons.
-
- Right Mouse Button:
- If you have selected one or more units, you can give them an order to move by right-clicking on a
- point on the map. If you then right-click on an enemy unit, it will be attacked by the unit of
- yours that you have selected. If, however, your next right-click is on one of your own units, it
- will issue the "Follow" command. Exceptions to this rule are the trailers, which cannot move under
- their own power. If you move the mouse arrow over an enemy unit, its remaining life energy will be
- displayed. If you do this to your own units, all the vital statistics (life energy, ammunition,
- fuel, equipment items, experience) will be shown.
-
- In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, you'll find a control panel which will become active
- as you highlight individual units. From here, you can issue commands to each unit, such as
- adjusting its combat mode (aggresive, nonaggressive), or activate the units' special ability.
-
-

- The following keys are active during the game:
- a - Attack
- x - Use unit's special ability
- m - Move
- s - Hold position
- c - Pursue enemy
- r - Retreat
- f - Fire
- t - Return fire
- h - Cease firing

- 1...9 - Access group
- ESC - Toggle menu
- F2 - Save
- F3 - Load
- F6 - Quick save
- F9 - Quick load
