  42. To ensure trouble-free operation and optimum performance, check to make sure that 
  43. your graphics card and sound card are equipped with the latest available drivers. 
  44. Visit the manufacturerÆs web sites to find out about updates.

  46. When you install the game, the version of DirectX on your computer may be upgraded
  47. to version 8.0a. In this case, you will be asked to reboot your computer once
  48. installation is complete. Installation of DirectX 8.0a is recommended to play
  49. Syberia.

  51. Note: It is STRONGLY recommended not to use the ALT-TAB key combination or any another
  52. combinations that switch Windows applications. Doing so could result in corrupted
  53. background images or disappearing characters. To restore the game, simply save your
  54. current location, quit and restart Syberia, then load your game.

  58. 4. Game Saves Directory

  61. The "Syberia Demo Saves" directory contains saved games (.SAV files) and game 
  62. options (the Config.dat file). In Windows 95, 98 and ME, "Syberia Demo Saves" is
  63. located in the game's installation directory.

  65. In Windows 2000 and XP each user has his or her own "My Documents." The directory
  66. is therefore located in the "My Documents" of the user. Consequently, in Windows
  67. 2000 and XP, each user will only see his or her own saved games.

  103. - I cannot start the game in Windows 95.

  105. Make sure you have installed the Windows Socket update included on the CD-ROM.
  106. You will find the file in the "\win95\W95ws2setup.exe" directory. Run the executable
  107. to update your system.

  111. Display problems with Matrox Millennium G550:

  113. - The image is not displayed correctly and some elements are not visible.

  115. If you have activated the anti-aliasing option of your graphics driver
  116. (version 6.82.016), the background image cannot be displayed effectively and you 
  117. will have various display problems. We recommend that you leave this option 
  118. disabled.

  122. Display problems with Kyro II (example: 3D Prophet 4500):

  124. - The image is blurred and some parts of the characters are poorly displayed.

  126. When the anti-aliasing option is enabled, the image may blur. In this event, 
  127. you should disable this option.

  130. Display problems with ATI Rage 128:

  132. - The game freezes after a few minutes of play.

  134. Make sure you have installed the latest available driver. The game was tested
  135. with Windows 2000 using ATI driver version 5.13.01.3279.

  139. Display problems Diamond Stealth III S540:

  141. - Some elements are not visible.

  143. The game 3D engine is not fully compatible with this graphic chipset. Even
  144. with the most recent available driver, this problem was still present.

  148. Character shadow display problem:

  150. - Some shaded area on characters are darker or incomplete.

  152. On some graphic cards used with specific drivers, there is a possibility that
  153. this problem will occur. You should ensure that you are using the latest available
  154. driver. However, if the problem still persists, you can set the option to 'Low
  155. detail' in the game. This will remove the shadows on all characters.

  161. - There is a faint hollow line surrounding in-game elements.

  163. In your graphic driver properties page, it is possible that an option named
  164. "Alternate Pixel Center" exists. This option should NOT be checked.

  170. - I don't hear any sound or the game freezes:

  172. Ensure that you are using the latest Sound Max driver. We have successfully
  173. tested with version 5.12.01.3037.
