- SEA RUN DIRECTIONS
- ______________________
-
-
- OBJECTIVE
-
- The objective of Sea Run is to keep your boat sailing through
- the water as long as possible before it reaches a dead end. You
- do this by creating a continuous path before the boat by rotating
- the wind arrows.
-
-
- GAME PLAY
-
- At the beginning of the game there is an ocean filled board with
- objects and arrows signifying different wind directions. Your boat
- will randomly appear at some location on this board. A clock on the
- left side of the screen will begin to count down seconds from 8 to 0.
- While the clock is counting down, you can rotate the stationary
- sailboat before it begins to move, yet once the clock has counted
- down, you can no longer change the direction of the boat by clicking
- on it.
-
- Clicking on any wind direction arrow rotate it clockwise.
-
-
- RESET AND MILES SAILED
-
- As the boat moves through the water following the direction of the
- wind arrows before it, they will be removed from the game board.
- The only exception is the yellow/brown 4 arrow direction grid that
- can be used more than once because it is never removed from the
- board. You can have the sailboat go OFF THE BOARD in any direction.
- It will then appear from the opposite side providing you have set
- the correct wind arrow for it to re-enter the board.
-
- At the bottom of the game board there is a MILE METER. This measures
- the distance the boat has traveled. If you can get the boat to
- travel 1 Mile which represents 20 1/20th mile increments, and can
- reach one of the sides of the board, (providing the entrance on the
- other side has a valid wind direction arrow) then the board will
- reset and you can continue to keep the boat moving by rotating the
- wind arrow grids. A message will appear after you've traveled one
- mile, saying that the "Board Can be Reset".
-
- Every time that you are able to reset the board, a new green island
- will appear which can never be removed. When the board is reset,
- there will be a 2 second delay in which you can start to rotate the
- wind arrows, however, you will not be able to rotate the boat's
- direction by clicking on it.
-
-
- SPINNAKER UP BUTTON / DOUBLE POINTS
-
- On the left side of the board there is a red button that appears
- where the clock was located. If you click on this Spinnaker Up button,
- then the boat will speed through the water at a much faster rate. Once
- the boat reaches the sides of the board and reappears on the other
- side, it will automatically slow down again. This SPINNAKER UP button
- is very important because when the boat has its Spinnaker up, you get
- double the points for the distance it travels and double the points
- for any bonus objects you can reach. If you have set up a long series
- of wind direction arrows that go off and on the board, then use the
- Spinnaker Button to get more points. This assumes you have already
- established a consecutive path for the boat ahead of time.
-
-
- SCORING
-
- At the beginning of each level there is a POINTS NEEDED total shown
- at the bottom of the screen. In order to proceed to the next level
- you must reach or surpass this point total in order to continue the
- game. If you don't reach this point total by the time your boat
- reaches a dead end, then the game will be over.
-
- The points needed for each level is determined by this formula:
-
- 250 + (30 * LEVEL) + (plus previous score)
-
-
- 8 Points are scored for each grid the boat sails through
- (16 points with the spinnaker up!)
-
- 15 Bonus points are scored for using the light red <--> wind arrows.
-
- 15 Bonus points are scored for using the (brownish) (+) 4 wind arrow.
-
- 25 Bonus points are scored for re-setting the board
-
- 50 Bonus points are scored for sailing over a Treasure Chest
-
- 50 Points for ending boat in Ending Grid.
-
- 100 Points DEDUCTED for sailing over a Whale (Not very smart)
-
-
- All bonus points are added to your score at the end of each level.
-
-
- OBJECTS
-
- On different levels there are various objects that will appear on the
- game board.
-
- Treasure Chests : Sail over these for extra bonus points
-
- Whales : Sail over these and lose 100 points
-
- Ending Grid : If an Ending Grid appears on the game board,
- you MUST end your boat into it or else the game
- will be over no matter how many points you have
- scored for that level.
-
- Islands : Level will be over if you sail into them
-
-
- Whirl Pool : When you sail your boat into the Whirl Pool,
- it will swallow up the boat and then it will
- re-appear at a new location on the game board.
- You will have a 4 second delay to adjust the
- wind arrows and boat direction when it re-appears.
-
-
- BONUS ROUNDS
-
- Every 2500 points scored, you will be awarded a Special Bonus Round.
- You can only gain points during this round, however, you must have
- completed the previous level with the required points needed in order
- to continue.
-
- MULTIPLE STARTING BOATS
-
- On the higher levels, the game board might contain MORE then one
- sailboat. You will not know which of these boats will be the one
- to move, so you'll have to plan ahead for each boat. Once the
- clock has finished counting down, one of these boats will start
- to move and the others will disappear from the game board.
-
-
- ENDING GRID
-
- On some levels there will also be a grid which says END HERE. This
- means you MUST get the boat to end in this grid or the game will be
- over no matter how many points you have scored for that level.
-
- * REMEMBER WHEN YOU SEE AN ENDING GRID, YOU MUST END THE BOAT
- THERE OR THE GAME WILL BE OVER NO MATTER HOW MANY POINTS YOU
- HAVE SCORED FOR THAT LEVEL.
-
-

- The mouse buttons at the bottom of the game board can be accessed
- at anytime during the game.
