  66.  Section 1:  Getting Started & Hardware Requirements
  67.  
  68.     Hardware;
  69.     You must have a minimum of EGA monitor & driver for display
  70.     and a mouse to use this program.
  71.  
  72.     One Drive System;  
  73.     Start your computer as you normally would (with the DOS diskette)
  74.     then insert the EGA Mouse Paint Diskette into drive "A", at the
  75.     DOS prompt type in "A:\EGAMP". The program will run slowly from
  76.     diskette but is acceptable.
  77.  
  78.     Hard Disk System;
  79.     Start your computer as you normally would. Make a directory
  80.     for EGAMP (consult your DOS manual for instructions on how to
  81.     make a directory and copy files). Copy all the files from your
  82.     EGA Mouse Paint diskette into this directory. At the DOS prompt
  83.     type in "EGAMP" to run the program.

  86.  PRECAUTIONS:
  87.     To insure proper operation of the program it is best to place it
  88.     in it's own directory. This is only a precaution, progams that
  89.     are in there own directories do not bother or are not bothered by
  90.     any other program. This is not a must, just a good practice.

  95.  SECTION 2:  EGA Mouse Paint in Windows
  96.  
  97.     To use EGA Mouse Paint in Windows 3.0 and install the Icon, use
  98.     the normal procedure to start Windows. Select the window in which
  99.     you want to install the program (refer to your windows manual for
  100.     installation of programs). Once you have installed the program in
  101.     Windows, single click on the program just to highlight it. Pull
  102.     down the "FILE" menu and select properties. Click on change icon.
  103.     In the "File Name Box", type in the Drive:\path\icon.name,
  104.     (ie: C:\EGAMP\EGAMP.ICO). Click OK & OK. You should now have the
  105.     FMS icon on the screen above EGA Mouse Paint. If you have a
  106.     problem with this procedure consult your windows manual.

  124.  Section 3:  Main Menu Screen
  125.  
  126.  Picture Select: When the main menu screen appears you have a choice
  127.     of selecting a picture. To select a picture, point to the
  128.     picture you would like to color and click on it. You should
  129.     now have a picture to paint.
  130.  
  131.  Coloring &
  132.  Color Selection: Point to the color you would like to use and click
  133.     on it. Now move the crayon over to the picture and click
  134.     anywhere within the picture to fill that area. When coloring a
  135.     picture the menu buttons will ask for verification (yes/no).
  136.     You can color any picture within its boundaries with any
  137.     color that is available from the palette at the right of
  138.     the screen. If you do not like the color you have selected
  139.     or a filled in area. Select another color and paint
  140.     over the top of the old color.
  141.  
  142.  Page Select: There are 14 pictures to select from on page one and
  143.     another 15 pictures to select on page two. To select a
  144.     picture from page two put the crayon cursor over the
  145.     page button and click the mouse. This will work in both
  146.     directions. (Toggle between page 1 and page 2)
  147.  
  148.  New Picture: Once you have selected or are tired of coloring the
  149.     picture that is on the screen, you can select another
  150.     picture by clicking on the "New Picture" button. The button is
  151.     located on the bottom of the screen.  This button will return
  152.     you back to the main menu page where you originally selected
  153.     the picture. You must verify your choice (yes/no).

  155.  Clear: Clear the picture that is presently on the screen of all colors.
  156.     This button will allow you to start over coloring the picture
  157.     you are working on. You must verify your choice (yes/no).

  159.  Quit: This button exits the Program and returns to the DOS environment.
  160.     You must only verify this choice in the painting screens.

  162.  Section 4:  Using the Timer
  163.  
  164.     The timer is located in the bottom right corner of the main menu screen.
  165.     It can only be started in the main menu page 1 screen. It is started
  166.     by pointing to the box (inactive) and clicking the left mouse button.
  167.     You will be asked to enter a time value (in minutes). You may insert any
  168.     value up to 45. To deactivate the timer function you must go back to the
  169.     main menu page 1. Click on the box again and enter either 0 or 46, you
  170.     may also just press the enter key. Once the timer is active it will
  171.     count down, sound an alarm then reset to the time you selected.

  183.  Section 5:  Using the ScreenSaver
  184.  
  185.     In the Upper left corner of the screen is a box "S". If you click on
  186.     this portion of the screen you will start the ScreenSaver function.
  187.     This will allow you to interrupt the program while you answer the dinner
  188.     bell and return to the same spot you stopped. Once you start the
  189.     ScreenSaver it will not ask for verification but will start instantly.
  190.     To return to the drawing just press the space bar. The program will
  191.     reinstall the picture you were working on where you left off so you
  192.     can continue to color. The program no longer writes the screen to
  193.     disk. It's fun just to watch once in a while.
  194.  
  195.  Section 6:  Using Arrow-Draw
  196.  
  197.     The Arrow-Draw function is in the lower right hand box on page 1
  198.     (the 15th box). To use Arrow-Draw click on its box the same a selecting
  199.     a drawing. Once the window turns blank you can start to draw.
  200.     You can use the arrow keys or the numeric keys for diagonal lines
  201.     (num lock must be off to use numeric keys). When you press the space bar
  202.     the line will change from a light gray color to a darker shade of gray.
  203.     The coloring portion in this section will only recognize the lighter gray
  204.     as its boundaries. This will allow you to move around the screen and make
  205.     shapes in different areas, when you color in your  picture the program
  206.     will only fill the lighter gray areas. Once you are finished making your
  207.     picture and are ready to color it in, press the "q" key on the keyboard.
  208.     You will now see the cursor with which you can select a color and start
  209.     coloring.  The clear button is inactive in this screen. The ScreenSaver
  210.     also works in this screen. The "New Picture" button will return you to
  211.     the main menu screen after you verify your choice (yes/no).

  214.  Section 7:  About Shareware
  215.  
  216.     Shareware is a try-before-you-buy process in which you are allowed to use
  217.     the program for a specific amount of time. This time will vary from
  218.     software to software.  The grace period for this program is three weeks.
  219.     If after that time you find this program useful you are expected to
  220.     register with the author (see registration Information below). If however
  221.     after the specified time you do not find the program useful you are
  222.     required to remove it from use. Remember that the shareware system will
  223.     only work if you support it by registering your program with the author.
  224.     This also encourages the authors of shareware to continue to write quality
  225.     programs, upgrade existing programs and supply support.
  226.  
  227.     If you choose not to register, I would still like to hear about any
  228.     comments or suggestions you have about EGA Mouse Paint.

  246.     If you encounter any problems with the program, write us stating the
  247.     problem along with the version number of the program.
  248.     You can also give us a call at (714) 898-7262 between 5:00 - 7:00 PST for
  249.     technical problems. We will be glad to do everything we can to get your
  250.     problems solved quickly. Please limit calls to problems ONLY,
  251.     send in your comments or suggestions. Note: We will NOT accept collect

  264.     hear from you as to what you would like to see in future version of the

  271.     Clubs, Individuals and other Organizations are granted permission to
  272.     freely distribute this program and its associated documents by              Flying Mouse Software.
  273.     Distribution Requirements:

  275.     1. The registration fees for this program are to the author ONLY.
  276.        No fees charged for the software and it's documentation above and
  277.        beyond the fees for disk duplication and distribution,
  278.        (normally under $6.00)

  280.     2. No advertisement made as to the program being public domain or free.
  281.        All advertisements must state this program is SHAREWARE.

  283.     3. No modifications made to the program or it's accompanying documentation.

  301.     The author reserves all rights to EGA Mouse Paint and it's associated
  302.     documentation. Flying Mouse Software assumes no liability to you or any
  303.     other party for the use or misuse of this program for damages caused
  304.     either direct or consequential.

  307. Section 12:    Upgrades this version
  308.  
  309.     1. The documentation has been enhanced and separated from the program.
  310.     2. The ScreenSaver function has been changed to work faster and not
  311.        write/erase to the disk.
  312.     3. Verify function (yes/no) has been added to the menu buttons
  313.     4. You can select colors or use buttons without first clearing the
  314.        color from the crayon (cursor).
  315.     5. Timer function can be stopped by 0/46/or pressing Enter.

  318.  Section 13:    Registration Information

  320.     Registration entitles you to the latest version of the program as they
  321.     become available. You can also call us with any problems (see Tech
  322.     support). Only registered users will receive over the phone help.
  323.     We will verify registrations. Registered user you will be the first
  324.     ones to be informed of any major upgrades or modifications made to the
  325.     program. Your comments / suggestions will have the highest consideration
  326.     for incorporation into the program.
