  3. The story so far...
  4. You are in total control of Hugo's
  5. destiny as he searches the haunted
  6. house for his sweetheart Penelope!
  7. (She was last seen going into this
  8. house on a baby-sitting assignment)
  9.  
  10. You may control Hugo's motion with
  11. the arrow keys or keypad.  You may
  12. also give him simple commands to
  13. pick up or look at something which
  14. catches your eye.  A very useful
  15. phrase would be "open the door",
  16. on the first screen, for example.
  17. Others are "look" and "look at..."

  21. On your travels, be on the lookout
  22. for useful or valuable objects.
  23. They may very well help you in your
  24. quest for Penelope.  Keep your wits
  25. about you, though, since not every-
  26. thing is necessarily as it seems!

  30. Some notes on the function keys:
  31. Press F2 to toggle the sound on/off
  32.  
  33. F4 & F5 allow you to save & restore
  34. your game.  This is very useful just
  35. before you are about to enter a new
  36. room or do something dangerous!

  38. F6 allows you to see what objects
  39. you are currently carrying.

  43. F9 is the "Boss Button" for people
  44. who like to sneak in a game during
  45. office hours!  It simply shells you
  46. out to DOS.  You must hit EXIT to
  47. rejoin your game.

  49. This button will allow you to keep
  50. a game going "in the background"
  51. while you do your normal work in
  52. its DOS shell!
