  4. Installation Instructions

  6. DOS USERS
  7.  
  8. To set up your sound card, type SETSOUND from the DOS prompt in the directory
  9. where you installed the demo.  We strongly recommend that you use the
  10. menu items within SETSOUND to test your choices.
  11.  
  12. Z incorporates a system called UniVBE which makes video cards compatible with
  13. VESA Video BIOS Extensions.  This can solve display problems in SVGA mode
  14. and can provide performance improvements on many cards. However UniVBE can
  15. cause instability with some cards.
  16. Its installation defaults to AUTOMATIC which means it will only
  17. install on cards with a VESA standard of less than 1.2  If you wish to
  18. change your settings type SETVIDEO from the DOS prompt in the directory
  19. where you installed the demo.

  21. WINDOWS 95 USERS
  22.  
  23. Run the SETUP program that is in the directory where you installed the
  24. demo.  This will set up icons for the actual demo of Z and for SETSOUND
  25. and SETVIDEO, as detailed above.

  27. After you have done this please run the SETSOUND program to configure your
  28. sound card.

  30. Please note that the demo will not run under Windows 3.x  Please quit
  31. to DOS to install and run the demo.
